I used this pump to remove about a quart and a half of transmission oil through the dipstick tube. It was slow and you had to fool with the flap but it worked.

I purchased one several months ago in case I ever needed it to siphon a gas tank. Today I needed it to transfer gas from my tank into a fuel can for a stranded motorist. I couldn't even get the hose down to the gas. The hose was so pliable and weak it never made it down to gas to get pumped.

As with all things intended for emergency preparedness, try them before using them in an actual emergency.

They had a gas can, so I ended up driving to a local gas station to get them gas. Funny part about all of it? There was a gas station 2000 feet away from their parking spot. It was blocked by an Applebees. Had I not been so single-mindedly focused on getting the gas out of my tank using this POS siphon, I would have used my GPS to figure it out.

Chalk one up for poor situational-awareness. And chalk another one up to "You get what you pay for."

I bought one pump to empty mower gas tanks, and the flow was very slow due to the .15" inside dia clear tube supplied. I discarded that tube and bought cheap 1/4" ID x 5/16" OD clear tubing from a hardware store. The big tubing fits over the pump entry nozzle, where the small supplied tubing fit in it, opening the flow hole from .15" dia to .20" dia, almost twice the flow area.

I also drew an arrow on the pump to show the flow direction, and bought a 2nd pump just for the pump-to-tube reducer fitting, so I could run 1/4" ID discharge tubing deep into the receptor gas can, for more natural suction.

Note the pump body has entry and exit check valve flaps, recessed in the pump for protection. Once you start the siphon by hand, it flows as a true siphon with no manual pumping needed.

I managed to unpack this and it was broken 2 minutes later.

The "siphon pump" is made of a bad quality plastic that cant decide if its supposed to be hard or soft. You can squeeze it, but it feels like it will break apart any second.

The Pump parts are GLUED inside and will fall off if u use the siphon pump or stick the non matching hose too far in. Its impossible to stick it in the right way, since it either will fall off or break the internal parts.

The hose is useless as water only drips through it, there is no flow at all. Its WAY too small for any liquid.

I tried to siphon a 2 gallon tank and gave up after letting it rinse through the hose for 20 minutes.

I bought this to drain the snowmobiles gas tanks in the spring. it worked nicely, not sure if the pump will be pliable next year or hardened up due to the corrosive action of the cheap fuel now days. time will tell. I'd buy again.

It is what it is...a cheap siphon that usually does the trick. This will not last long as the construction is of the cheapest quality. The seals are also not great and therefore suction suffers, but in a pinch it will work. I bought this as a backup because of the cheap price. Definitely not a primary siphon.
