Makes a good seal on wood stove doors.

Verified Purchase

You can’t go wrong replacing those dried out seals on your wood stove doors. I have a double-door Timberland that started emitting smoke when the doors were closed and this cured that problem. I purchased this and a rope because I thought the gasket on the stove was round… but it wasn’t so 1-roll was not enough. My stove has gaskets on both the doors and the stove with overlapping metal edges for a tight seal. You do need Stove Gasket cement to do the job correctly and the Rutland in a caulk tube worked fine for me… put a large nail in the tube spout and you can use it again… I have several stoves and replace gaskets as needed. I would suggest you never cheap out on the gaskets and I have never been disappointed with anything made by Imperial… hence the 5-stars.

I had a wood stove for several years that worked pretty well. we did notice that even if you turned the air vents completely closed it still had enough air to burn fairly well. We also notice that the room was many times cool and suspected the seal around the fireplace and the wood stove was not good. One day I was inspecting the stove and realized the seal on the doors was absent, gone and leaking air. This tape solved the problem and now when not in use the doors are sealed and we are warmer. It was easy to install with the right glue and it cut easily with scissors. Except for the ash dust I didn't even get my fingers dirty.

This is perfect for sealing a smoker

I used this tape during a rehab project on my somewhat old Bar-B-Chef offset smoker. I had tried to use 3/8" corded gasket, but that was too thick. This flat, 1/8" gasket was perfect. I used this gasket tape on the smoke box sides and bottom only. If used on the top (hinged side) the cover will not close properly. I used High Temp RTV to "glue" the tape to the smoker. Voila, no more smoke leakage! I am very happy with this product.
