The description says it's for clotheslines, but the label says it has toxic, cancer causing chemicals and to wash hands after touching - definitely not appropriate to be rubbing against our family's clothes...

Not a very heavy duty clothes line, it broke after two weeks. The line can not take the heavy weight of many wet towels.

..at least not the wire I got; it's soft and highly flexible, I'm pretty sure it's aluminum. Doesn't say anything about steel anywhere on the package..will return it.
added: ok , I tried the magnet and it stuck , duh, I was mistaken, its magnetic so we know contains iron. probably cheap pot metal steel, not very strong. and not necessarily steel. high quality steel isnt magnetic, stainless for example, isnt magnetic.
