We have a Gerber toilet that is around 15 years old. Recently we had a slow leak in the back of the toilet, where the tank meets the bowl, for several months. It was just a little drip, we put a towel down on the floor so the water wouldn't stand and ignored the problem. One day I go in the bathroom and there is water all over the floor. So I turned off the water to the toilet and got all of the water out of the tank. I removed the tank from the bowl and saw that the gasket was totally warped. I noticed that Gerber toilets have really thick gaskets, so I go to the hardware store to buy a new tank-to-bowl bolt set and the thickest gasket they have. I put the gasket on the bottom of the tank and fastened the tank to the bowl. I turned the water back on to the toilet and gave it a flush. Water just came rushing out of the back of the toilet and the entire floor was flooded. Obviously the gasket wasn't thick enough, and the local hardware stores don't stock any thicker gaskets.
I ordered this gasket which is made for Gerber toilets. When the gasket came I noticed it was much thicker than any gasket at the hardware store. So I installed it on the tank and fastened the tank to the bowl again. I gave it a flush and no water came out the back this time. There have been no problems with the toilet after installing this gasket. This gasket is what you need if you've got a Gerber toilet and have the same problem I had.

If you have a Gerber toilet and cannot find a Gerber-specific washer at your local store, order this one because it will save you a lot of time when you repair your toilet. I ordered this washer after the universal repair kit I installed on my Gerber toilet introduced a severe leak between the tank and the bowl during flushing due to the kit's washer not being thick enough. I tried to find a larger washer but the local home and hardware stores, including a major retailer, didn't stock any large enough to solve the problem. I checked Amazon.com and found this washer that fixed the leak.

I have a 25 year old gerber toilet. I've went to homedepot and lowes to find that they didn't carry gerber gaskets. The gaskets homedepot and lowes carried didn't fit properly and leaked. I was afraid that I wasn't going to find the gasket to seal the tank. When I saw this, I was so overjoyed that I bought three. To my disappointment, this is a knock-off. This gasket isn't beveled and it doesn't completely cover the flush valve like my old gasket. I talked to the gerber manufacturer and found out that they don't make gaskets anymore for 3.5 GPF tanks. But I can still use another gasket that will fit nicely. The part number of the gasket is 99-582. They sent me a free gasket in the mail. This gasket has a bevel on it like the original gasket. I went to a local plumber supply company and bought several more just in case my other gerber toilets leaked. You can also buy these gaskets online. Plumbingsupply.com sells the complete kit ([...]) with 100% brass bolts, rubber washers and plastic nuts and gasket.

Although, some reviewers said it worked, this Toilet Tank-to-Bowl washer did not work for my "Gerber" toilet. In the case of my toilet, I had to use brand specific parts, The Gerber brand is much more dense/thicker than this one.

Fingers cross - so far so good. To start off, I need to state that I hate working with water or electricity. So when I bought a Fluidmaster UNIVERSAL tank kit to replace all the innards of my toilet (and used "their" tank-to-bowl washer) - I was less than happy when water poured out onto my bathroom floor. I had no idea I had a GERBER toilet (circa 1993). I never really cared what brand of toilet I had. In any event, you probably know the story...ACE, Home Depot, Menards, etc. do not carry the "extra thick" washer in their stores. I had to order it over the Labor Day weekend. Toilet was out of service for 4-5 days. I hope this review is not premature, but after 10 flushes - no water. I am still watching closely with dishpan under the toilet and toilet paper lining the floor to detect any traces of water.

Worked perfectly for my Gerber 30 yr old toilet tank. Item was just as described in product description. This gastket didnt have a recessed ring inside for the nut used to attach the overflow and cap, but it still fit very snugg on the pipe.

This is the only gasket I could find that fits my 1969 year Gerber toilet. It fits 99% perfect. At first I had a little water leakage after installing it, but I messed around with the tightness on the tank to bowl bolts and solved that issue. I would definitely recommend trying this if you have an old Gerber toilet and can't find the correct gasket.

Like the previous reviewer below, I too replaced the existing leaky seal with a universal (large) one from a local hardware store. Upon testing, 1.6 gallons or so came pouring out from under the tank and onto the floor - caught me by surprise to say the least.

Fast forward a couple days - I ordered this seal and it made the correct fit for my Gerber toilet. If you have a Gerber toilet, don't waste your time (and towels) with another universal one - get this.
