5.0 out of 5 stars Someone's Got to Stand Up and Make A Change, July 2, 2006
Evanscapps is a hard rock, almost metal sounding group that derives from Southern Rock Kings Lynyrd Skynyrd and .38 Special. Ean Evans, Lynyrd Skynyrd's current bassist plays all lead guitars on this album except for the song "Why" where Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist (and former Blackfoot frontman) Rickey Medlocke takes the lead. Bobby Capps, .38 Special's keyboard player and the most notable member for writing the song "Second Chances" is the lead singer of this group.

Capps voice sounds similar to that of Sammy Hagar, just with more melodic pitch and less grunge. Evans does a wonderful on bringing out the melody on the songs that are needed of it such as "Anything Goes," "Innocence." The way the song "Walk" sounds like you're walking with the song.

This is the debut cd for the Mississippi boys, and it shows great promise. This is definitely a keeper cd. It's a cd you'd keep in your house and burn a copy for your car.

A previous post had mentioned that this cd is a wonderful cd to have in the car, and he is correct, however, there are no songs called "In The Meantime," or "Drifting and Driving" so the guy obviously has no idea what he's talking about.

The track listing:
1) Hell If I Know
2) Dead is Rising
3) Innocence
4) Follow the Morning Sun
5) For Somethin' or for Nothin'
6) Stand or Fall
7) Why
8) Walk
9) Mississippi
10) Anything Goes
11) Hole in My Head

As I've mentioned in my other reviews, I do not like rating each song, and I find it annoying when other people do it. I will just say that every song on here is a great mix of Southern Rock-Metal-and Pop-Rock. The messages that the band sends out still stands the same thing Skynyrd and 'Special represent. Family Closeness, and caring for others.

Ean Evans does a wonderful job on this cd of bringing out the melody and the bass of the guitar when it's needed and backs off when its less important. Bobby Capps does a great job putting his emotion in the song and letting the song sing itself by not forcing the song.

Evanscapps also throws in some songs that may be described as political ("Hell If I Know"), but is more of their feelings towards what's going on in the world. Such lyrics as "Humans dying for their beliefs when we all derived from one religion"... "Children dying in the streets when no one seems to give a d***."

This is definitely worth the money spent on this cd.

5.0 out of 5 stars amazing, May 13, 2009
this album is amazing, a required listen for any lynyrd skynyrd fans out there. i heard a portion of the proceeds are going to a charity called lyrics for life as well. sad to hear about evan's passing, but this album will keep his spirit alive for decades to come.
