Note that this is labeled as a tung oil "finish," and not as tung oil itself. The reason is that this is a wiping varnish designed to produce a similar look to that of tung oil. It may look alright, but do not be misled into thinking it is something it's not. Unless it is labeled as 100% pure tung oil, and the directions tell you to thin it with mineral spirits, you don't have the genuine article. It's deceptive marketing, frankly.

My passion is restoring old wood furniture. I use this product to revive wood that needs a cosmetic lift.
It hides scratches and flaws that aren't too deep. Gives a nice finish that brings out the wood grain, and
leaves a nice luster. Easy to apply.

I've been using Formby's for 20 years an find it to be consistently one of the best. I like the low gloss because I can control the degree of "glossiness" as each additional coat adds to the "depth" of the gloss.

I have an antique oak kitchen table and split something that took off the varnish in a spot. I got this, lightly sanded down the top of the table and put this on with a cloth. I did two coats and it looks great. I am very happy with the product.

I use this on the inside of each and every drum I restore (3 coats total) and honestly, it's the only tung oil i will ever use. Protects, and preserves the wood nicely and the gloss level (low) is perfect when you just want to give that little extra something to a fellow musician but dont want something thats gonna detract from the real visual part, the outside of the drum. Also, this is great when your just wanting to bring the figure a TINY bit, if want to bring it out more i would recommend something with higher gloss but for what I do, the finishing of the shell is perfect, looks much better than raw wood in my opinion. Will be purchasing more in the near future! HIGHLY recommended to any music instrument builder

I have used Formby's for years and loved it. When it was sold to Minwax some of the BEST products were discontinued and the quality seems to have slipped down on what they are manufacturing. I put several coats of the tung oil on my table and you couldn't tell I had done a thing. Finally my husband took pity and put something he had in his shop on the table and it finally looked right. I am very disappointed in this product.

Doing a re-finishing project, I did what the instructions said, putting two coats on top of a stained walnut veneer, sanding after the first one. Worked very well. No comment to those of you who are building new furniture, putting on many coats to get a smooth gleaming finish, etc.
