If you've ever shopped around for a Rack to mount your network or server gear, I'm sure you've been somewhat suprised at how much they charge for these things. Especially consider how basic they are. Well, this particular rack is really just a basic network rack for a fraction of the cost that most will charge you. It's obviously marketed as something to put A/V equipment in, but that's not what I'm using it for. :)

Once you stack up all of the gear, this is about the equivalent of a 12U rack, give or take a unit. It will lean towards the back as pictured if you assemble the device as instructed. But you can just leave out the 2 screws that hold it back and stand it up-right. You still have 2 screws that hold the rails to the base and once you have the weight of a few switches, it's definately not going anywhere and won't fall forward.

I already have 4 cisco switches and 3 routers mounted using the included screws (which work great) and it still feels very secure on my desk and is certainly well made. The holes also line up perfectly using the standard Cisco brackets. And I still have room for a few more devices.

Tip: Don't put on the top optional brace until all of the gear is mounted. Otherwise it can make it somewhat difficult to squeeze the gear in between the rails.

Overall I consider this highly recommended if you are looking for a cost effective way to mount your network gear to make it easier to get to. Or if you're like me and just don't like stacking stuff on desks. :)

Purchased this for Cisco networking equipment to set up a home network lab. I have a Cisco 1841 and two 2651XM routers, two 2950 and one 3650 switch, and a 1U power supply all mounted in this rack. It's sturdy, doesn't wobble, and holds everything very well.

It was very easy to put together. Plenty of rack screws to mount hardware were included.

My only complaint (and not worth knocking off a star) is that some of the mounting holes were not fully threaded. This means I had to put some elbow grease into the screws when I first started them. Once the screws starting going in it got a lot easier to tighten down. Everything fits well and is secure.

This is the second one of these I have purchased. It is a fine product. The first one I bought was used to mount a number of ethernet switches for my home business when the entire house was wired with cat5 and fiber. This latest one has been used to hold a number of musical recording effects modules. This is a great product because it is the minimum solution for a desktop, and yet is strong enough for the job, and light enough to move around. It is priced very nicely for what it is. I cannot recommend it highly enough. It is perfect for anyone that wants to mount a number of 19 inch modules, and still have access to the back of the units. I am very impressed with the manufacturing of the unit. The welds are strong and it is easily assembled in seconds. I am happy to put my name on this review and let people know that I stand by this product as a wonderful solution at a great price.

Features and Benefits

*Heavy Duty Steel Construction - TRUE
*Top Horizontal brace - They call it a bonus, but the item would be a 3 star item if the bar was not provided.
*Bottom Horizontal bar - makes it so you cannot use the bottom rung in my situation
*Assembles in Minutes - TRUE, 5 minutes maybe 7 tops
*Includes Rack Mounting screws - the holes are perfectly snug!
*Non-Slip Rubber Feet - too bad the rubber feet slide off if you move the rack. Might have to glue them on?
*Black Powder Coat Finish - looks sharp
*Table Top Rack Stand - Because of the slant and the length of my equipment, the stand did not fit as nicely on my 21 inch deep table top. Worked perfectly for items on the lower rungs, but not on the upper rungs.

12 Single Rack spaces
Depth 14"
Width 19.5"
Height 23"
Weight Capacity 115 LBS

Works for my network equipment (cisco ws3550-24, 2x ws3550-12g, 2x 24port Netgear switches, 1 24port Dell PowerConnect 2724).

My friend has one for his studio equipment next to his PC.

I will be buying more for future projects!

I went as I often do with reviews, and do what I did, as I read the 1 and 2 stars reviews, discount them. This thing is price for lunch two at Panera. I am happy with the purchase, I did replace the rack screws with Middle Atlantic rack screws, the ones they sent not good, but I have bought hundreds of dollars of stuff from IKEA and replaced the hardware. Someone wrote in a review the rack was threaded wrong, to that I would say, try the Mid Atlantic rack screws with washers, the washers comes on the screw have used them for years. Granted I have been around this stuff a while, and carry stock of these and other items I tend to use often.
Take a look at the customer photos, they show a person with two of these racks set up in what I take a home studio enviornment. Smart guy, these racks are that good of a deal. If I had the floor space I would go with more of these myself. But with space at a premium I have to shelve up.
For those who are interested in erecting this with out the angle, as another person wrote, just use two of the screws get a square (and or level) and there are a number of ways you can make it secure. My choice was I took 2 - 8" pcs of rack rail and tied the two pcs to the frame as I installed a 2 U, shelf, the rail I added, went behind the one on unit. You will find the bottom holes will not line up but the rest will, so I have 1 screw holding an Tripplite Isobar power supply on either side, its not going anyplace. I allowed some air space and installed the shelf with the 4 screws, the shelf I used is rated @ 60 lbs., I tested it with an item of 50 lbs. and the rack afterward was still true and square enough to install a 40lb. $1000.00 pc. of equipment on. My total on this rack will be @ 75- 85 lbs. and thats fine. This rack I am sure is good for the rated lbs.
