I bought this with the assumption that the width would be the same in the front as it is in the back. It is not! It's 3 3/4 inches wide in the back and it widens to the front to 4 7/8 inch. The product's description fails to mention this crucial detail. The narrowing towards the back makes this a lousy way to store a shelf full of magazines files, as it would create a lot of unusable shelf space in the back between the magazine files.

I would not buy this again.

I made a mistake with this purchase, and didn't read the reviews first. It's not clear from the tiny photo, but the racks are trapezoidal-shaped in "plan" (i.e., the footprint) rather than rectangular, and won't allow you to set them side-by-side on a bookcase without wasting space. I have no idea why someone thought this was a good design, and I'm straining my brain to think of a situation where these would make sense - I'm guessing they were high or drunk at the time this was designed and approved.

What's worse is that Amazon failed to mention this in the description, and now I'm either stuck with five useless magazine racks or going to have to foot the bill for return shipping despite their negligence. Be warned, and don't make a careless purchase like me!

I looked around for a magazine file for a while because I needed large ones to house interdepartmental envelopes. Due to the size of the envelope (bigger than 8x11) they do not sit well in a normal sized file holders (the ones that holds notebooks and magazines). Also, I wanted an opening on one of the sides so that the envelopes don't try to fold in on themselves. Finally, we have a lot of them, so obviously something pretty wide was preferred.

I ended up purchasing two of these after looking at all of my options. I thought these didn't look half bad with the mesh walls and it fulfilled all of my requirements. I use one for housing empty interdepartmental envelopes and the other as an outbox for filled interdepartmental envelopes. So far, they are serving their purpose well. I just haven't received any envelopes to send out, it's so funny how that happens.

This is not as advertised in size. Do not be surprised. They are angled to where the real width is only 3 inches wide and then it fans out to 5.5. You cannot fit many magazines in them at all. VERY MISLEADING!!

This is a very solid magazine file. I have had no problems with it tipping over, which was a problem with a similar item I bought previously. It holds several magazines. I also use it to hold my Kindles while they charge.

I purchased this for my magazines and craft books. I already have several different ones from various sources. This is the first time I bought this style. It is wonderful for my craft books, which I keep on a table in a corner of the living room. Very convenient to pull out one that I want. And because it flares out at the front, very easy to rifle through the books for the correct one.
On the other hand, because it DOEs flare out, it is not as good for my magazines, the holders of which are lined up on a cabinet in the spare room. I will have to get a different style for that room, but it is still very handy, strong and attractive.

These racks look so much better in our agency library, than the cardboard or cheap plastic ones. Of note: they are wider in front, narrower in the back, meaning side by side fit on a shelf is a bit different than for those which are the same width front to rear. Happy with the purchase.
