Be warned that the "from the manufacturer description" is out of date, Vermont American was a great American tool company that held out as long as they wanted, but have recently moved production to China, the description clearly says "made in USA" but these are from the new Chinese production. V/A has quite some nerve still naming their company Vermont "American" and Amazon needs to update the product description to reflect the new V/A product line.
As for the quality of the product. don't expect much as you did not pay much. But don't blame the Chinese manufacturer, V/A execs approved the poor quality of this set and said "yep that's fine, -- 80% profit right?"
I was hoping from the description that that this was some of the old production from a year or two ago, left over in stock, but alas I was sorely disappointed.
Bottom line, they will tap a hole, the case will be broken when it arrives, and the drills will dull in 25 holes, but it was $20, and all i wanted was a few holes tapped here and there.

The description from the manufacturer on Amazon implies that these tools are made in the United States. They are not. The drills, taps, and case are made in China per the product packaging. The plastic case is of poor quality. It does not easily shut. The tip of the longer drill scraps against the t-handle. This will probably cause premature wear of this bit. You'll need a rubber-band to hold the case shut reliably.

Machining fluid and other residue were present on the T-handle and drills upon initial opening. I've never purchased a new tool that wasn't clean.

I do like that each of the taps and drills are laser-marked with the size. That will be helpful especially considering that plastic case is probably going to break. Given the cleanliness and the poor packaging, I'm dubious that these tools will last very long. However, I only need to tap six holes so this should be adequate for me.

If you're looking for quality tools or are purchasing from someone else, you're probably better off looking elsewhere.

Update: Tap broke while tapping fifth hole. Not sure how I am going to salvage what I was working on. Buy a different product.

NPT stands for National Pipe Thread. This is the type used ONLY for threading and tapping for pipe fitting.

Seems to be pretty cheap product, if you going to use it for a few home projects I would buy it again. But if you need to drill and tap multiple holes like 5+ I wouldn't expect these tools to last very long.

Bought this set as a person who occasionally needs a tap set when doing very small garage repair jobs. If you plan on using this set for heavy duty professional work it probably is not for you. I needed a set to repair broken grease fittings on a lawn mower and other similar jobs.

I checked into purchasing a single tap for one job, but for the cost of a single tap and a handle I got this set with 6 taps and matching drills.
