If you need to adjust the gap for today's modern spark plugs, which require larger gaps than the plugs of old, the KD 2327 wire gauge gapper fits the bill perfectly. There are other gap gauges available on the market, but the KD 2327 is one of the best. It has all the popular gaps ranging from 0.040" to 0.080" in wire gauges. Wire gauges are the best way to measure the gap on modern plugs. Compared to the equivalent Lisle 67900 gapper, this one is also larger and feels more substantial in the hand. It is also made in the USA! (The Lisle gapper is made in, where else, China.) But even if it does not matter to you where it is made, the KD gapper is more than adequate and worth buying. Highly recommended.

This style of gap gauge is the correct tool for gapping your spark plugs. The attached ground strap adjusting tools on this gauge are a nice addition. The range of this particular gauge is good for most naturally aspirated engines.

Do not rely on the cheap 99 cent coin-type ramped edge "tools" that you find at the counter of your local auto parts store. Not only is that an inaccurate method of measuring the gap, doing so most often damages the plugs before you have even installed them.

To be honest, there are tons of these gap gauges around, made by all sorts of different companies. I dont actually think that this gap gauge is any better than the others, but it does its job, so it deserves 5 stars. On top of that, im dealing with iridium plugs, so you would need a gap gauge like this to do the job right. (the coin gap gauge will damage your precious metal!!!)

Great stuff overall!

This is the kind of spark plug gapper / gap tool you should use when gapping Iridium spark plugs. Simply wonderful.

I decided to get a gap tool for changing my spark plugs this time. Lo and behold, 2 of the 8 plugs were just slightly off. I adjusted the gap and installed.

And this is made in America. Feels nice and solid.

There are various wire gap gauges from K-D Tools, make sure that the gap tool you order has the proper width for your specific vehicle. This one has .045, .08, .05, .04, .06, .044.

Those funny looking things on the left and right side of the picture are the adjusting tools. It's too difficult to adequately describe how to adjust the gap, I recommend finding a video on Youtube to show you how to do it.

Great tool! Made in USA! Has .044 for Ford iridium spark plugs gapping with tool to adjust spark plug gap that works perfectly. Highly recommended for spark plug work! It has the measured wire and not ramp to get a good solid true accurate measurement of plug gap that is precise every time.

Don't fool with simple, disk type universal gap gauges. Their graduations suggest a degree of precision that they just can't deliver. By the time you use one enough that you've developed a "feel," the disk will have become worn out and lost calibration. Use this wire-type gap gauge instead. Is uses simple go/no-go principals for any spark plug gaps you could need, and won't foul a fine electrode's precious plating by wedging a scratched up disk into it. It's the best right tool for the job.

This has to be one of the best tools there are for assuring accuracy of spark plug gap for a wide range of spark plug sizes. The built-in gap adjusting prongs should prove to be invaluable for insuring that correct gap size exists, especially for well used plugs. Should last the rest of my lifetime as a great tool!
