The product called "Edelbrock/Russell 639570 Speed Bleeder" is a package containing two brake bleeders and two caps for them. The caps are plastic, not the more durable hard rubber type of cap. These bleeders are a metric size. The bleeder shaft is 7 mm diameter with 1.0 threading. They fit the brake assemblies on my '89 and '90 Toyota Corollas. The nut is fit by an 8 mm wrench. Compared to an OEM Toyota bleeder, these bleeders have a longer nut and nipple. This makes it slightly easier to get a wrench on them and slightly easier to secure a hose to them. The current (Oct. 2011) product picture of the bleeder is not accurate. I've contributed some photos of the product that I received.

The following remarks are based on using this product, but they probably apply to any brand of speed bleeders.

The OEM Toyota bleeders and other ordinary bleeders do not have a check valve. If you have such a bleeder open and release the brake pedal, air can be sucked into the brake line. The check valve on a speed bleeder prevents this.

In theory, one person working alone can bleed brakes by the "pop bottle" method using ordinary bleeders. In this method one end of a hose is hooked onto the bleeder and the other end is put below the surface in a bottle of brake fluid. The bleeder is opened by turning it about a quarter turn. When brakes are pumped, air escapes by bubbling out in the container and only fluid is sucked back into the brake lines. In practice, it is difficult to improvise good equipment for this. Actual soda or beer bottles tend to tip over Tubing is stiff and hard to keep under the surface of the fluid. A person wants to see the jar collecting the fluid while pumping the brake pedal, so the jar must be shifted around to be in view.

These speed bleeders are a great idea, yet no one knows WTF they are, or even that they exist (except maybe you, now that you're reading this lame review). IMHO, next to the new brake pad spreader springs that keep your pads from dragging against the spinning brake disk unnecessarily, these are the braking industry's best idea in years.

I'm not sure what keeps the air from leaking in via the threads when you loosen them and let up on the pedal (I suspect a tiny bit of air gets in) but they do seem to work great. Just remember to get a hose so you can drain the fluid into a pan or bottle.

One thing... I wish the manufacturers of these (there are a few) would somehow mark these as speed bleeders so I don't accidentally send them back with the cores when I install new calipers. They look identical to regular bleeder, so they need to be lime green or some known identifier to remind you (and mechanics) to reinstall them onto your next calipers.

I give them 4 stars for performance, but they need to be easily identifyable to be 5 stars

These work for Toyota Tundra calipers with 13WL casting marks. The casting marks are near the bleeder screw holes.

Don't be fooled by the Russell or Amazon part finder that says you need the M10x1.00mm thread bleeder! You actually need the M7x1.00mm thread bleeder for the front and rear.

Only thing I don't understand about these speed bleeders is the thread sealant. The OEM bleed screws don't have thread sealant, why do these? Seems like a possible failure point for a part that's unscrewed and then tightened repeatedly.

I installed these on my 1997 Outback ... fit was perfect ... was easily able to do a brake flush by myself ... I took one star off because the package did not include any directions for installation or use ... it's not that hard to figure out, but still ... BTW, there are two bleeders in the package, a detail left out of the description above.

One of the pair leaked, probably a faulty valve. I notified the company and they sent me a replacement.

I would stick with SpeedBleeders brand in the future.

These speed bleeders should be standard equipment on all brakes. They work and work well. If you have never bled your brakes, you need to know that some rear brakes use different size bleeder from those found on the front. The "Will this fit my car" option on the page for parts like this can be misleading. You need to go back to the manufacturer's site to be sure that you are ordering the correct size bleeders for all four brakes.

Best bleeder ever made. I've done 100's of brake jobs using various bleeding tools. These speed bleeders made is so easy, it wasn't even a job. I just installed them in the calipers and hooked up a bleeder bag and pumped the brakes. I bled and flushed all the calipers at one time with no helper. I'll buy a set of these for every vehicle I own.

Bought these for my 1991 NA Miata. Easily installed with just a 8mm box wrench. For people that bleed their brakes often, it is advisable to reapply the grey thread-sealant that is sold separately (similar to a brake fluid resistant loctite) so the system cannot pull air in through the threads. I got these to use in conjunction with the bleeder bags and found the front brake bleeders are different from the rear: Russell 639550 fronts Russell 639570 back and supposedly the clutch bleed valve.
