Or really for anyone who doesn't have a welder when doing their exhaust. I used these to connect the ends of pipe for my Magnaflow catalytic converter, muffler, and tail pipes on my Dodge Dakota (used 6 in total). Because i don't have a welder, and I hate crush-clamps, these are the best thing out there. Best suited for quickly connecting exhaust pipes that allow you easy access to later improvements, or replacements, without having to cut the pipe. Grade 8 stainless bolts, stainless sheet metal for the clamps (which has help up better than the stainless on my Magnaflow parts), and also comes with a patch of black, tacky, high temp putty that helps hold the clamp in place when tightening. The putty isn't a bonding agent, so you can still take these off. The putty retains its tacky nature, so the clamps are reusable a few times before that needs to be replaced.

These clamps are lap-joint clamps. For those who don't know the difference between a lap-joint and a butt-joint, it's on how the pipes fit together. If you have a pipe that slips into the end of another pipe, usually the pipe it slips into will have a slightly larger end, then you have a lap-joint, and these are what you need. Butt-joints are when you are connecting two pipes together that do not slip into one another. For those (under the assumption you are looking for 2.5" clamps), you will need part number 33240. Those will be your butt-joint clamps.

This is a 2.5" exhaust **lap-joint** stainless-steel clamp. Lap-joint implies the material overlaps, versus butt-joint, where the materials butt against each other. This means one end accommodates the overlapping exhaust pipe and the smaller end clamps more securely on the slip-fitted pipe.

You get a lap-joint clamp when you have a slip-fit exhaust where one pipe slips inside the other. I was building a 2.5" exhaust and did not want to weld-in cats and not be able to easily dismantle the exhaust without a lift (it's just me in the garage and a floor jack).

This lap-joint clamp works great and Amazon had the cheapest price anywhere, plus free shipping for Prime members.

You don't want to get the cheapie horseshoe/u-bolt type clamps as they make indentions in the pipe (making it out of round) and are prone to leaking and sometimes make it almost impossible to "un-slip" the exhaust pipes. These clamps hold the exhaust securely and with a 360deg grip so you don't indent the pipe.

This is a referenced as a 2.5" band clamp, yet one side is flared to almost 2.75". At first I thought I received the wrong item, and amazon was quick to replace it. Unfortunately the new one was the same way, which is why I think the description is unclear.

I believe this to be a manufacture specific band clamp (NOT a generic 2.5" band clamp), and in turn should be labeled as so. Hopefully this review will save others the head ache I have endured.

I was at my wits end with my catback exhaust coming loose from my header pipes after every other drive in my Charger R/T, so I started looking around at different style clamps to use and from what I read this style clamp is what might help. It did exactly that. I've had the two clamps on for over three weeks now with zero issues of the catback coming loose. Whew glad that's over with! In my opinion these should have been the style clamps that came with the catback from the manufacture. The single band clamp style that they provided just didn't have enough clamping power to secure the exhaust to the header pipes. These are well, well worth the money. Just another note to add... The clamps will come with a small square tar like sealant on the inside of the clamp. Just use the clear plastic cover on it and smear it across the clamp before installing and it'll just add to the clamps sealing ability. It doesn't mention this at all in the descriptions so I figured I'd add that so anyone wondering what that tar-like stuff is on the clamp knows its supposed to be there.

These are much better than most similar style band clamps. The little differences in design add up.
(I bought more than one style of these clamps from the local store, from Amazon, etc.)
1. These are less likely to cut you (unlike the normal ones)
2. Easier to start the bolts since they are thinner at the tip
3. Actually still round when you get them; this makes them easier to put on.
4. Have a spot of some type of high-temp sticky glue to hold them in place.
5. No nuts to spin / have to hold with a wrench. The threads are cut into the metal.

Also, of course, they work better than the Ubolt style clamps,. The Ubolt style leave dents in the pipes.

these are so easy to install and perfect if you need to remove your pipes forget about the old u clamps crushing you pipes and having to cut your exhaust to get it out these are very nice heavy duty clamps a must when building a street rod or muscles car.

These clamps tighten down very snug and look great. I was able to tighten these down very snug and the clamp still has enough room to tighten down again at a later time if the band stretches a bit. I have also purchased other brands of this type of clamp here on Amazon, with varied results. Other brands have closed up if tightened too tight resulting with the inability to snug them or tighten them later if they stretch over time.

I have read some of the 1 to 3 star reviews and find that the problem these people are having with this clamp is that they are made for LAP-JOINTS. If you have pipes of the same diameter being joined together (BUTT-JOINT), you need to get a different clamp!

These Dynomax clamps worked awesome if used correctly and have a nice appearance.
