I use a lot of caulk in my job and have used all the various caulking guns that are out there. Every time I'd encounter a new, or even slightly modified style of gun I'd have to buy it. I was continually searching for a better gun because all the guns I've used sucked. I really had given up hope for ever finding a decent caulk gun. Then I came across this Ergo-Tech thing from Dripless Inc. Finally! A caulk gun that is almost a joy to use. (I say almost because, let's face it, there ain't much joy to be had in laying down a bead of caulk.)

I mainly use two types of sealants with this gun: Vulkem 116 and GE Contractors Silicone. This gun works great with both even though they are at opposite ends of the viscosity spectrum. Vulkem is very thick and can be tough to squeeze out especially on cold days. This gun's 18:1 work ratio and rubberized soft grip make it a breeze to expel even chilled Vulkem. On the other hand silicone can be too viscous and it's always eager to drip from the tube no matter what you do. But the Ergo-Tech's dripless feature really does work! You can lay down a line of silicone, release the trigger, and that's it. It stops! I was and still am impressed.

Other features that make this a great a caulk gun are the convenient ladder hook, it's light weight, and it's ability to disengage the dripless feature (because many jobs are easier and faster with the dripless thing turned off.) I know some people may shy away from a gun that has it's main body made of plastic. But let me tell you this is not cheap, thin, flimsy breakable plastic. This is rugged, thick, industrial type polymer material. Strong yet lightweight.

The 18:1 ratio is a little fast for household caulk use. It's made to push out much thicker products. However, the dripless is absolutely genius! I think as I get the hang of the speed it'll be something I use for a very long time. The durability should be excellent looking at build quality. This is what the pros use. Don't buy anything at Home Depot of Lowes. The few extra bucks are very well spent on good tools like this.
Edit:
I'm having an issue with this gun. The drip/no-drip switch is highly prone to switching out of dripless mode. I contacted the Dripless company about this problem and got no response. Very disappointing. If I'm not careful about checking frequently, I end up with a real mess.

I'd call it "drips less" rather than "dripless" as there are still some drips to contend with in my experience (although much less than with your typical gun).

The 18:1 ratio is great if you're working with thick or cold caulks, but with your run-of-the-mill caulk or sealants, you're trading an easier trigger squeeze for more frequent squeezing. I find it easier to lay down a long, consistent bead (e.g., 8' of baseboard to wall caulking) with guns that offer less mechanical advantage.

Last quibble is that there is no recess at the "nozzle" end of the gun to hold the caulk tube in place. Not normally a huge issue because the tube is pressed into place by the plunger but, at times, the tube can get jostled out of position.

Otherwise, pretty nicely put together, sturdy, the trigger's a good/comfortable shape. It has its place but there a probably better "compromise" guns for general painting/household use.

Occasional homeowner caulking gun user here - not a pro. Didn't even know such as a thing as a dripless gun even existed until I stumbled upon this on the interwebs.

Difference between ETS 2000 and 3000: 2000 has 12:1 trigger ratio and lacks drip feature. 3000 has 18:1 ratio and can switch between dripless and drip. 3000 is about four bucks more. Other than that they appear to be the same. I went with the 3000.

I'll leave it to you to explore the world of pull ratios. I'm sure there are several websites dedicated to that. The drip feature is supposed to be for applying polyurethane caulks.

I rarely use polyurethane. My initial experiment was (only) with a half-used tube of "Dab" Alex Ultra 230 white - a caulk I love and adore due to its slower set time. I have enough time to go back and work it in my deliberate, homeowner-so-I-want-it-to-look-good fashion.

This caulk would drip 'til doomsday in my old regular gun. Didn't drip the slightest with the 3000. How nice.

Gun has very smooth action and a very comfortable handle. No pulling out of the plunger to (try to) get the gun to quit squirting. Man that was a pain with my old gun - and it didn't really work anyway.

I was able to apply about a six-inch long bead of caulk with one complete trigger pull - with *this* caulk and *my* deliberate DIY-er way of doing it. (Your results may vary.)

I've found I get much better (and less messy) results by applying less caulk and - MOST IMPORTANTLY! - running a fingertip down the caulk line to squash it firmly and smoothly in the crevice. (And this itself doesn't work very well if you're caulking over a dusty, dirty surface. No caulk sticks well to dirt.
