I bought this after having perineal surgery and needing sitz baths for weeks. I wanted an alternative to Domeboro. I liked that Motherlove's products are all natural and antiseptic. I thought this would be like Domeboro in that it would be something that would just dissolve in the water. Nope. It's like a tea: it's a bunch of leaves and dried herby items that need to steep in the water. It is time consuming and a giant mess.

Motherlove makes a concentrated version of this (as well as a spray bottle version when you're on the go!) that is a MUCH better alternative. It's not sold here on Amazon, but I promise you it is well worth it.

I tried the finest strainer there is, to strain the leaves out of this brew before sing it. They still come through, meaning you end up having to sit in particles, that stick to your bottom. Awful! I should have read the reviews, some of which did point this pout. I thought the material would dissolve.

This stuff is amazing. Yes, it is time consuming and not terribly practical to brew like tea before each use when you have a newborn, but what it lacks in convenience, it makes up for in effectiveness. I was healing very slowly from childbirth and then I remembered I had purchased this at the end of pregnancy and gave it a try. I felt significantly better within one use. I finally felt like I was healing. Each day that followed that I used this product I felt better. I could really tell the days that I skipped it. I just wish I had started using it sooner after birth!

It worked to give some added comfort to the Sitz bath. However, I didn't realize it had to be prepared and strained ahead of time. The straining was a real mess and just not worth the time to me. Also, it's too much expense to add to a twice daily routine. Otherwise, it's a good product.

This was for my boyfriend. He gets hemorrhoid problems often and I wanted to help him heal so I got a sitz bath for the toilet and the motherlove sitz bath product. As said in the instructions, you have to STRAIN it like tea. So I get a strainer and put it in a small pot on the stove and pour in a good amount of the product (it's like grains of salt and herbs mixed) until the water boils. Then I remove the strainer and pour the water into the sitz bath container and make my boyfriend sit in it for 20 minutes. He said it felt soothing and wasn't painful. It helped a lot with cuts and swelling.
