Beads are not sewn into compartments on this style sleeve...hence they all fall to the "bottom" once sleeve is placed on your wrist. Some other versions, such as neck wrap, have multiple compartments to hold beads in place.

For heat - you have to experiment how long
you microwave the item. Too little and heat
diminishes rapidly. Too much and you can burn
yourself where skin is most sensitive. It
does provide moist heat and thus works
quite well in this mode.

For cold - even when packed with ice and
left in freezer overnight, the coldness
lasts for only a few minutes. Ice cubes
in a cloth bag are more effective.

The beads fall to the bottom if you
hold the item upright. It must be
"molded" to conform to the body part
to which it is applied.

Good little product. Have only owned it for a few weeks but have used it a dozen times or so. It is well made and will probably hold up. Works much better as a hot wrap than it does for icing. Order a size smaller than measurements dictate if you want it to fit snuggly.

I first became aware of this product at Physical Therapy sessions. Having had two hand surgeries to relieve the hand distortions of osteoarthritis, this microwaveable sleeve relieves aches or tightness. I liked it so much that I purchased one for my hairdresser who of course works with her hands each and every day. She thanks me every time I see her. I think that speaks for itself. I would recommend this to everyone who needs hand, wrist or elbow relief.

I have Reynauld's syndrome and de quervain's tenosynovitis, so a pack that fully enclosed the thumb joint and fingertips looked ideal. The picture at left clearly shows "Hand Wrap #24515", however, the pack I received is labelled "Sleeve 24512". It does not fully enclose the hand like a mitt, and is smaller than the specified dimensions.

I didn't return or exchange it as I'd had a very bad flare-up and needed a new heat pack right away; in short, it was better than nothing. It is comforting for a short period of time, but does not stay warm as long as advertised--even with additional insulation.

Buyer beware!

This is not a gel pack that can be either frozen cold in freezer or heated in microwave. It is filled with tiny pellets and is heavy in weight, which is not comfortable on a sore hand/fingers/wrist. Also, it is much too large for a woman's hand or wrist. I am 5 ft 4 in 95-100 pounds and have "large" hands with "long" fingers, but this is still too loose and thus, there is no constant contact between the heat and my hand/wrist. Would not recommend to a friend.

Less than a minute in a microwave oven and this sleeve provides a good moist heat that helps loosen up my arm in the morning or before I head out the the gardens. I find, though, that the underside of my forearm is more tender than the outside around the elbow and can't tolerate as much heat. So I have to use it with moderate heat or stuff something down inside the sleeve to protect the more tender part of my arm. I'll probably end up stitching a flannel panel inside the sleeve.

I also find that the beads inside slip around and usually end up congregating along the underside of my arm instead of outside where I need them. If the sleeve had channels (like a duvet or quilt), it would create more even heat all around.

I bought the Thermalon eye mask, and I LOVE it. The moist heat it amazing. I've developed some joint pain in my hand, so I bought this sleeve. I was worried about the reviews that said that this was really large, because I have small wrists. My sleeve arrived today with the photo pictured, and it states "small sleeve," there is also a "large sleeve" (which is pictured for the knee). The small sleeve is 5 1/2 inches by 7 inches, and it was a snug fit getting it up over my elbow - but that means it won't slid off all willy nilly. It fits snugly around my hand and wrist as well. I'm not sure what size other people received (perhaps the large sleeve), or where they were using it, but I figured I would be detailed as possible regarding the size and fit.

While I understand there are no compartments for the beads, I had no issues with beads all "falling to the bottom," since it stayed snug on my arm, the beads were snug against my body as well. If the heat needed to be readjusted, it was a simple matter to do so. I've found that these stay warm for the 30 minutes they claim.
