I'm giving this item one star because it's not possible to give it no stars, which is what it deserves. Do not waste your money on it. I've tried the bulb in 2 different 3-way lamps that both work well with conventional bulbs. The 3-way Ecobulb barely flickered once in the first lamp and was dead in the second.

The bulb is physically too large to fit within a conventional harp, so it comes with "harp extenders." It's thus more inconvenient than a conventional bulb. If it worked as advertised, the inconvenience might have been worth it. But....

This may be a technology that is not yet ready for prime time. Certainly the first fluorescent bulb I tried 30 years ago was a disaster, whereas today's fluorescent bulbs are quite satisfactory. So give this technology some time before you plunge into a purchase as I foolishly did.

This bulb has the worst light I've seen in a CFL; it really is more like the terrible ones I remember from childhood. They must use only one phosphor, and now I know why they don't list temperature on the packaging.

The light is a very stark white color. I thought I was going to have to abandon the lamp I purchased, and find one with a tinted shade or something, but then I simply tried another brand of CFL. The other brand was much warmer, equally bright, and didn't hurt my eyes and make everything an awful gray-bluish-green. I really got ripped off when I purchased this bulb for $10 and I'm just going to hope I can somehow return it. (Bought at a retail store, but it's so horrible I just had to write here to warn everyone.)

And yes, I gave the bulb sufficient time to "warm up", though there was nothing "warm" about the outcome. Don't use this bulb unless you've got a strongly yellow shade for it. If you're a dentist, maybe you'll like it.

Bulb works as advertized, but the light is too white for most uses at home. A warmer light is needed in home environments.

I've got 3-way table lamps that can't accomodate 3-way fluorescent energy-saving lights, so I jumped at these when I saw that they included harp extensions for lamp shades that could make the lights fit the lamps. The lights arrived today, and not only were BOTH clamshell packages for the lights that I ordered cut open and taped "shut", 3 of the 4 harp extensions were missing from the packages. To me, this is the equivalent of opening your pizza delivery box to discover that the pizza kitchen help ate off a few slices, tossed the remains in the box, and delivered it anyhow. I will never order from Greenfeet again...the best thing they could do is give me a refund.
