This is an overall fantastic baton! It is well built, it looks great, and it is weighted amazingly well! Many batons of really terrible quality are on here for significantly larger prices, but this one's the best that i have found on amazon! The handle is made of a very natural looking and feeling burgundy colored wood and the rest is a white plastic. It even comes in a little plastic case, so you don't need to worry about it snapping in half. Overall, this is one of the best (Reasonably priced) batons out there and i reccomend it to any amatuer or even professional conductor!

I wanted a baton with adequate balance that could still survive the marching band environment. This baton is excellent for the price. It looks good, and is capable of providing excellent fluidand staccato movements. I am impressed by its survival alone, considering the energy I put through it as a drum major.

It may not be the best choice for someone who wants a perfectly balanced baton, but it suits the needs of an amateur or student conductor well.

I don't know much about conducting batons. I bought this for an orchestral conducting class I took last semester. During the semester I realized I preferred a longer baton. The 12 inches just feels slightly limiting imo. I've got relatively small hands, but the wood handle feels nice. Not sure if the stick itself is plastic or some other material, but it has held up to my use even though it feels slightly fragile. The firm plastic tube case it comes in serves enough protection when traveling in my backpack. In general it is very light and great to use. Would recommend for beginning conductors or as a back up baton.

The 12" length of this baton is good. The hand-turned wood handle is comfortable and quite pretty. And the case it was shipped in to prevent breakage is excellent for safely transporting the baton from site to site. A lovely piece which makes conducting even more of a pleasure! The selection of different wood options for the handle is extensive. Pick the one you like and you will be pleased.

Lovely baton. This was a Christmas gift for my son, who wishes to be a music teacher. He has already used it and so has his music teacher. They both loved it. Great value for the price. It does not come with a fancy carrying case, but the plastic tube packaging works to protect it nicely.

I bought two of these because the price was good and I wanted to have a spare on hand.

I wish I hadn't bought the second, it was a waste of money. Actually, the first was, also, but there's no way to tell until you buy it, so that's the risk we take.

The reasons I don't like this product are (a) It's too short. Batons need to be at least 14" but I couldn't find one that length so I settled for this one. I shouldn't have. (b) It's too fragile. The VERY FIRST TIME I used the baton to tap on the conductor's stand to reinforce the meter, the thing BROKE. Yeah, I know, it's a wood baton, and wood can break if you beat on a stand with it. But I've used many, many wood batons before, some of them for years, and none of them broke like this, without being somehow abused. This was a very minor tapping of the baton, and for it to break the very first time I used it tells me it was not made correctly, that there was some flaw in the wood. (3) It's not very well balanced. (4) The handle is too small to grasp properly. I felt like I was trying to conduct with a pencil. Hey, I could have used a pencil, and it wouldn't have broken like this one did.

I think I'll stick to fiberglass batons in the future. Or if I get wood, maybe I can get it in bamboo.
