1.0 out of 5 stars Not for (all) W-Series Cameras, January 2, 2008
By A. Belenky (Seattle, WA United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I looked at this for my Sony DSC-W80 camera because it is labeled by Amazon as "for the Sony Cybershot W-Series Digital Cameras".

It DOES NOT WORK with the Sony DSC-W80 camera. I suspect it is incompatible with several other cameras in the W-series line as well. So read carefully, and if your camera is not explicitly listed as compatible, ASSUME it is incompatible!

2.0 out of 5 stars Problems, December 25, 2006
It will adapt and allow you to put on lens, however the are several very serious problems. First of all it blocks part of the built in flash. Meaning if you use both it will leave a huge shadow across you picture. Sony recommends getting the slave flash, however you may wish to see the reviews of the slave flash before getting it also. Second you can't use the AF illuminator. Also you obviously have to use the LCD screen not the viewfinder. Finally it makes it unsteady on a tripod.

3.0 out of 5 stars Functional, but not Fantastic, August 26, 2007
This lens adapter does what it says. It allows the attachment of the lens. But it's somewhat cumbersome to use, and the clear plastic is not exactly a match with the camera. But once attached, it is sturdy and holds well, so for a lens adapter for a digital point and shoot, it's not that bad.

This little piece of equipment is what it is. Sure, it has the limitations described above, but users of this particular camera have no other choice in the matter. Read more
