Seems like a great idea but, disappointingly, it did not fit onto a Mobil 1 Synthetic 5-quart container (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BLKXS7K).

Even when I took off the black gasket, assuming that the yellow must the the correct one for that size.

Instead, I poured from the 5-gallon to an empty 1-quart Mobil 1 Synthetic container that I still had. I was sure that would do it, but it did not fit the smaller container either.

Neither the yellow gasket nor the black gasket.

I hope it's because the Synthetic has openings that are not standard? (Because the description makes it sound like it has the ability to fit both large and small containers, no problem.)

Screw-out adapter fits standard qt.+ the larger qt. sized opening. Also the tube is easily removed should you need only the ON/OFF feature.
Great for tran. fluid, eng. oil but gear oil type weights a bit too thick.
Generator oil changes...a must. The yellow twist ON/OFF cap won't let you spill a drop as long as you allow tube to empty after you twist in OFF position:-)

The "Trans Fluid Spout" has a white adapter that screws into the bottom of the "Trans Fluid Spout" that allows it to screw onto the ATF quart plastic bottle or the Oil quart bottel. The bottle stop in that adapter after a time breaks off and the unit starts to leak. Mine broke off inside the adapter... If it had broke off into pieces, it could have gone into my transmission. Lucky it broke off as ONE small piece and didn’t go any further. Beware!
And NO!, I didn't put it on too tight... Just snug...

Kind of a pain to use, but better than nothing. The threads would never thread evenly on to a bottle, so you have to be careful not to tighten it too much, otherwise it will pop loose. I've stopped using it now and just attached the tubing to a funnel. For what I've need it for so far, this works better for me.

i bought it knowing that there was a good chance it wouldn't fit. it didn't, the spacing on the threaded parts were different so it didn't fit onto my bottle securely. it would continue to turn past fully tight with a jerk and "restart" at loose. so i had to find a sweet spot and cross my fingers. learned my lesson when my bottle popped off and spilled gear oil all over my driveway.. not fun to clean up. after that, i decided to tape the flotool onto the bottle and it was fine after that.

other than that my only other criticism is that it doesn't lock in the on or off positions, so midpour it stops sometimes which can be very frustrating if youre working under a vehicle or in any other compromising position

Fits Honda ATF bottles but not the filler tube. The plastic tube is the same size as the ATF dipstick tube in the Honda Odyssey so it will not slide over or in the tube. The tube is also too short to reach the fill plug or dipstick if you have a bottle attached, too much stuff in the way. A small, 3/8"(?) tube with a flared end inside the supplied tube will fit in the dipstick hole and provide the required length to easily fill through either the dipstick port or fill port.
