Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description Simply clip this super-slim flash audio player onto your belt and you're ready to go. With its four-line LED display and built-in USB plug, the YP-U2JXB makes a great traveling partner whether you're taking a cross-country train trip or a jog through the city. The device offers support for MP3, WMA, WAV, and OGG audio files, and is also compatible with PlaysForSure WMA subscription music services. In addition, the YP-U2JXB is outfitted with both an integrated FM tuner and a digital voice recorder, so you can enjoy your favorite NPR programs or record voice notes, lectures, and song ideas for later use.

The YP-U2JXB can hold eight hours of CD-quality MP3 tracks on its 512 MB memory. View larger.

View USB connectivity details.

The unit's 512 MB of memory holds approximately eight hours of CD-quality MP3 tracks (encoded at 128 kbps) or 16 hours of WMA tracks (at 64 kbps). Listeners will also dig the CDDB music management system, which retrieves a music file's artist name, track name, and more from an online database and displays it on the LED screen. And should things get a bit dull, users can turn to the built-in lighting effects, which sync to the music to keep things fresh.

The YP-U2JXB's audio performance is enhanced by a nine-band customizable equalizer and eight EQ presets, which include normal, rock, classical, jazz, house, ballad, R&B, and dance. Plus, the device offers a built-in clock for timekeeping and a multilanguage menu interface that accommodates users from across the globe. Perhaps the most convenient feature, however, is the direct-insert USB plug. Rather than offering a USB jack that requires an independent USB cable, the YP-U2JXB plugs directly into your PC's port. Simply remove the cap and you're set.

The YP-U2JXB--which is compatible with PCs running Windows 98 SE, Me, 2000, or XP--offers support for both USB 1.1 and 2.0 interfaces and includes a built-in lithium-polymer battery that recharges via the USB connection (each charge offers roughly 20 hours of playback). And at 3.45 x 0.96 x 0.5 inches (W x H x D), the device fits conveniently in the palm of your hand or in a jacket pocket. As with all Samsung MP3 players, the YP-U2JXB carries a one-year warranty on parts and labor.

The Samsung YP-U2JXB Direct Insert USB Digital Audio Player uses PlaysForSure technology. Look for the PlaysForSure logo if you're shopping for a portable music or video device and you want to make sure the digital music and video you purchase will play back on it every time. Match the PlaysForSure logo on a large selection of leading devices and online music stores. If you see the logo, you'll know your digital music will play for sure. Choose from a large number of digital music and video stores, including MTV's Urge, Rhapsody, Yahoo!, MSN Music, MusicMatch, MusicNow, Napster, Wal-Mart Music Downloads, and many more.

What's in the Box
YP-U2JXB digital audio player, earphones, necklace, clip, installation CD-ROM, and user's manual.

Product Description

4.0 out of 5 stars Great little player for the price, August 26, 2006
I purchased this not too long ago. I needed something lightweight and with minimal functionality for exercising. The sound quality is wonderful and when you turn it off, it does not start at the beginning of the playlist again like some annoying flash players. It looks nice and sleek. I felt very cool carrying it.

While there are not many buttons, after reading the manual I found that I could get too my personalized playlists pretty easily. Additionally, there is a recorder and an FM player. It is very light and very rugged. I played it off and on during my vacation and did not need to charge it until the 5th day. It is well worth the money...However, I got it for about $10-$15 less at Best Buy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good enough for the price, August 16, 2006
I've had this digital audio player for about two months, and for the most part, I've been satisfied with it. I chose it because it was inexpensive yet had packed into its small and seemingly rugged body a wide variety of capabilities: FM radio, audio recording, and multiple format music playback. It's easy to load music onto it, takes only a short time to power up, and the instrument interface is easy to use. However, the screen quality is very low. After only a month, it developed white dots on the screen. It's still possible to read the menu text, which is fortunate because screen damage isn't covered under Samsung's 1 year warranty.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice mp3 player/flash drive, February 4, 2007
Overall, I am quite pleased with the performance of this device. I had if for about 8 months, and aside from a couple of glitches, it has worked very well. I lost it a couple days ago, but bought another to replace it, which is nice since now they are much cheaper.

The glitches may have more to do with user abuse than inherent problems. That said, this player is extremely rugged. I've dropped it several times, and it even spent about 10 minutes in the washing machine before I remembered I left it in my pocket. I dried it out in a desiccator at 98 degrees for a couple hours and it worked like new.

The two glitches were minor, but worth mentioning. One is that if the battery was totally dead, simply plugging it into the USB port wouldn't charge it. I had to plug it in first, and then turn it on. It would send a signal to the computer that it was there, and then begin charging. It wasn't a big deal, but it took me a while to figure it out. The other problem was that sometimes when using the fast forward function the player would turn itself off. This might have been a side effect of the washing machine incident, but I'm pretty sure it happened before as well.

Some nice features include that it charges very quickly and will run a long time on a single charge. The FM tuner and voice recorder functions are nice to have, but I rarely used them. Half a gig isn't much space, but I never found it to be insufficient since I mostly listen to radio shows and delete them after listening. The flash drive works well too for storing files.
