The front, satellite, and center speakers are each equipped with specially designed flat drivers that offer strong mid-bass from a shallow depth of only 1.3 inches. The meager depth doesn't mean that Sony scrimped on sound, however, as the speakers and subwoofer also boast mica-reinforced woofer cones (mica is a mineral additive that produces a dense yet sensitive driver). The cones are engineered to deliver high power handling and quick response, giving your bass some serious thump--especially considering the diminutive looks of the system.

Specifics range from 4-inch woofers and 1-inch tweeters in the front/satellite speakers, resulting in a smooth transmission from mid to high frequencies, to dual 3-inch woofers in the center (along with a 1-inch tweeter) for crisp, precise dialogue reproduction. The powered subwoofer, meanwhile, delivers big bass via its dual 6-inch woofers.
