I just started nursing school, and I had been using the school's equipment during our practice labs. We start clinicals next week and we were required to buy our own stethoscope. My school bookstore sells this same stethoscope (as the Littman II is considered a high quality and recommended stethoscope for nurses) for about $90 by itself. I'm glad I decided to check amazon before I purchased from the bookstore because for just an extra $20 you can get the blood pressure cuff and sphygmomanometer (gauge) and a nice storage case which also contains the stethoscope. It was delivered today and I've already taken my boyfriend's blood pressure and listened to his heart (and my dog's and cat's hearts too! lol). I have to say the sound is way better than the stethoscopes that are provided in the school's lab. After using the school's equipment, I was worried about properly hearing the Korokoff sounds (what you listen for when taking blood pressure) and I was considering buying a much more expensive electronic noise canceling stethoscope. I'm glad I didn't, because really this stethoscope is all I need. The blood pressure cuff is an added bonus, because you can practice taking BP on all your friends and family. It's well worth having, even if it's not required. If you are a nursing or medical student and you need to purchase a stethoscope, I'd highly recommend this kit. It's everything you need as a beginner.

I got this as something mid-range to use in my EMT class with expectations of upgrading later. I really like it and have no intentions of upgrading. Stethoscope is heavy and feels good in my hands. Easy to hear heart, breath, and pulse sounds even in loud environment. Blood pressure cuff is only useful on average adult, cannot be used on obese people or children, but it was no advertised as such. Gauge feels a little heavy and is difficult to use when attached, but is easily detached to hold in hand and feels sturdy, encase it is dropped. Nice quality, looks great. Bag is just big enough to hold cuff, stethoscope and a pair of scissors, so I still needed another bag to hold the rest of my basic equipment. Overall the equipment is very good quality, as expected from Littmann. Priced right for beginners, and good enough for experienced EMTs and Paramedics.

I bought this for my wife, a respiratory therapist, who somehow cannot find her Littmann Classic II Stethoscopes after our move :-( she received it and loves it. She tested it (IDK about these things, she does) and says it's perfect for her needs- accurate, good quality, etc. I have fairly large/musclular arms (but no Hulk Hogan) and I don't have any issues... No complaints. If SHE says it's good, then I know I'm happy with the purchase.
