I must say that experiences such as what's given in the next paragraph are very rare since meters, instruments, etc. usually work in an 'acceptable range'. However, because this probe's slide switch feels really cheap (it's hard to move it such that it stops just at the middle position which is for DC) and the clamp clam-shell has a light flimsy feeling (I almost have to manually pinch the probe tips with my fingers to make sure they closed properly), I feel it's just poor design and workmanship (i.e. it's not an incidental defective piece).

The meter is EXTREMELY inaccurate ... almost worthless. An 8A DC charging current from BatteryMINDer 12 Volt 2/4/8 Amp Wet/Gel/AGM Battery Charger to my car's battery was reading 10.5A on this probe! Similarly, in another charging application, a 2.7A DC current was reading 3.55A on this probe. Verified using my Fluke-289/FVF FlukeView Forms Combo Kit.

It gave these readings on its first ever use (the meter is absolutely new). The only thing is that Amazon won't take it back since it's past 30 days because I had to travel overseas where I had a use for it.

This is a great amp probe for any mechanic's toolbox. Makes diagnosing electrical issues a breeze. It's a low range probe, so it's great for the typical less than 30 amp circuits of most vehicles (it's good to 100 amps anyway...). Highly recommended for any mechanic's toolbox.
