5.0 out of 5 stars Compare this to Cuisinart, May 20, 2006
By A photographer (Planet Earth) - See all my reviews
I wrote a review of our new Cuisinart DCC-1200W under that product. In that review, I mentioned that we also bought a DeLonghi for our RV about the same time. This is the model DeLonghi we bought at the local Target.

This coffee maker, quite simply, is better designed and made a better cup of coffee than the Cuisinart right out of the box. The Cuisinart here on Amazon is about twice the price of the DeLonghi.

If you're in the market for a new coffee pot and you read all the glowing reviews of the Cuisinart here on Amazon, I urge you to consider this pot instead.

5.0 out of 5 stars Makes a great cup of coffee, January 11, 2008
I had read a few not very favorable reviews about this coffeemaker, but decided to buy it and try it anyway. I'm so glad I did. It makes great coffee and has all the bells and whistles I need. Plus it is not expensive! I like the option to have a slower drip for deeper coffee flavor. The carafe doesn't drip and I like the design of the maker and the carafe. I very much like that it comes with the gold filter and that it has the automatic start and shut-off functions. This machine makes much better coffee than any of the other drip machines I have owned. And I do love a good cup of coffee.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst coffee maker to date, October 29, 2007
By Mikhail S. Jenkins (Mpls, MN USA) - See all my reviews
I've been through several coffee makers in my life...this is the worst. I am also big into cone filters, as IMHO they make a better cup of cofffee. It does not leak when pouring as savagely as the Krups I have owned, but makes around 10 cups of coffee and then shuts down from dripping while there is still coffee in the basket where you put the coffee. I have reduced and reduced the amount of coffee I have put in the basket, have switched from the included gold filter to paper filters, have tried using warm instead of cold water when making coffee...anything I could think of.
Nonetheless, it defies my attempts at making a pot of coffee without making a mess. The basket has a life of it's own, and I have witness it pop itself out from the machine and need to be pushed back in lest the "pause and drip" feature (which, in this model, is the "pause and pour coffee on the warming plate" feature) spill even further coffee around.
The main problems I've had in coffee makers in the past have been messy pouring from the carafe (especially in the Krups brand), though I had a wonderful KitchenAid that finally gave up on me after a several years. Its sole annoying feature was a charcoal water filter on the inside of the water tank that had to be replaced every so often. Looking back, that was a great joy compared to the faults I have been experiencing using my DeLonghi. I tried the programmable feature a few times until I got sick of waking up to a mess of sloppy grounds and coffee all over my countertop.
The "aroma" feature just lets the coffee sit in the basket for longer, which makes any chance of a mess much more likely. Thanks! I really don't know what they were thinking when they made this coffee maker. Rather than wear out, I am probably going to retire it to the dumpster long before it's time. I wouldn't dare even give it away, as I would face certain animosity from any party I gave it to...
