This is our second Whirly Pop PopCorn Popper. It won't be our last, but this one certainly won't last. We had our first popper for about 10 years. It finally just wore out. But it was heavy duty. When this one arrived we could tell right off it was so cheap becaue it was so light. The crank handle to stir the popcorn is so flimsy the gearing pops. Right now we are on the lookout to find an older one at the Goodwill or Salvation Army Thrift stores because one is so bad.

This is my second Whirley Pop. The first was the standard silver one and we loved it. Well, my new kitchen is red so I decided to spring for a red one. I bought it from Target through Amazon.com. It arrived stuck in a cardboard box with no padding or protection. There were several scraches on the base where the silver showed through the red. The first time I used it on my gas stove, the red paint scratched off where the pan touched the burners. Very disappointed in the quality of the red one. I'm sticking with my old silver Whirley Ppo.

I love this popper. I was looking for a way to make homemade kettle corn & this is it. It is so easy to use. My 12 yr old makes popcorn by himself and my younger kids love to crank the handle. For kettle corn I use 1/2 cup Orville popcorn, 1/4 c white sugar(brown makes caramel corn) and a little oil, sprinkle with salt before serving. Dump all together and put on burner. 5 mins later you have delicious kettle corn. I highly recommend this if you are tired of microwave and really want delicious homemade popcorn. A little FYI we have tried the popcorn kit it comes with, while it is good(a wee bit salty in spots) it's really not all that necessary. You get delicious popcorn using Orville's and a little butter drizzled on.

Pops fast with a little amount of oil.

I also have the plain silver colored popper and I have had no issues with this red one. They have worked the same for me.

My husband choose one as a holiday gift at his work a few years ago from the group of $20 gifts. He knows how much I love popcorn. At first I was skeptical because it feels cheap and flimsy. We had been using a really old, large, very cheap, covered stock pot. It belonged to his grandmother and worked so well because it had thin walls and a thin floor. It was light and easy to shake and it would build up steam and heat quickly in the aluminum pot. But it wasn't designed for popcorn and the small handles would get scorching. The big plus side is that I could make an enormous amount of popcorn in it at once.

This Wabash Valley Farms Whirley-Pop device has the same important features of thin metal that hold in steam for rapid heat production. The pot will not have to heat up like a heavier pot would. This popper allows the heat to go directly and quickly into the oil and get changed to steam, which can be the most effective for popping the most kernels. The whirley stirring feature is an added bonus that permits you to keep unpopped and partially popped kernels in contact with the highest heat sources (oil and steam) instead of getting trapped by the popped kernels. The ability for the lid to flip up is practical if you end up with a lot of popped corn so it has some place to go and make room for more kernels to get big and fluffy.

Because this popper helps create and retain high heat, you do not need much oil and you do not need a super high heat setting once the oil gets warmed. As the popping begins, be ready as it will finish quickly.Read more ›

I am a popcorn enthusiast and when my popcorn popper stopped popping a month ago, my husband hit Amazon and started researching for the best new popcorn popper on the market. Growing up we had a stove top popper similar to this one and it made excellent popcorn. We fought over who was going to get it when Mom and Dad passed on… so far Mom is still alive and we always make popcorn when we visit her.

This popcorn popper received the highest praise and reviews so my husband ordered it for me. I've made 3 or 4 batches so far and each batch has resulted in fluffy, perfectly popped kernels with few to no un-popped kernels. The popper is aluminum and the metal bar inside might seem thin and like its not going to be effective, but I followed the directions exactly and it works great!

My previous popper was electric. You plugged it in, put in the oil and corn then walked away until it was done. This one you do have to stand over it and turn the handle for 3 minutes, however it makes excellent popcorn and the kettle is super easy to clean. They tell you that the more you use it the better it will work, and to just wipe it out as opposed to washing it after every use. I think it kind of conditions the kettle.

I am super happy with this new popper and the company has many popcorn related supplies they sell. This looks like a family owned business that has been around for many years so that makes me extra happy to support a company like that.

I highly recommend this Whirley Pop Popcorn Popper!
