I was injured early this summer so I've had to turn to the internet and the mail to get the vegetables I used to be able to buy fresh. I was amazed to find these at such a great price, but I should have remembered, that you get what you pay for.

I've used two of the cans of the 12 I bought and both cans had the same problea. The bottoms are from old, woody artichokes and are very poorly cleaned. Once you scrape off all the inedible woody tissue, you only have about 40% usable artichoke meat. I won't be purchasing these again.

For some reason, my local grocers (in Salt Lake City) aren't getting artichoke bottoms in, even when I ask for them. I can't remember the brand I used to buy in North Carolina - thought this can looked familiar - but I was really disappointed with how tough they were. I'll use them, of course, but I won't order this brand again.

I ended up throwing these away... I only used one can... the rest... the flavor was off and they just did not taste right. I have enough health issues and do not need more! Plus, they expiration date was not so far off from when I purchased them. I wish I had phoned customer service! Too late now, money wasted. Gonna try local store or maybe a different website! So sad! After eating fresh ones, especially the heirloom ones... I am not longer sure of the canned ones!

My initial review... I regret!
I chose the 5 stars since I can use this with my diet due to health issues. I had difficulty finding this locally so I was very happy to see it available online. Another good thing when a person cannot get out and do things anymore like me.

These are good added to so many things. I also buy the Lemon Artichoke Sauce that World Market sells... this works great together with chicken for and easy meal. Great over brown rice. Good for adding to salads too.

High in fiber and good for the diabetic diet or anyone wishing to eat a bit better.

Great easy product for quick meals!

I'm a senior citizen & have enjoyed artichokes all my life. That said, I was purchasing mine at the local grocery & they were always good. When I found them on Amazon, decided to purchase a pack of 12 of both the bottoms and hearts..I was planning on using them for the holidays. So far, I've opened 2 cans of bottoms and both were not usable...one bottom looked rusty and the others were so tough, I couldn't serve them..couldn't even cut them with a sharp knife ! Opened 2 cans of the hearts...one was ok and passable but the other wasn't..now I have 10 cans of each and I wonder if any of them are going to be edible..know I can't return them but this is a real inconvenience...they were purchased to be holiday treats and now I'm thinking I'm out the money paid for them and probably will be lucky if at least one or two cans are usable. I've purchased many items from Amazon & have always been satisfied until now. ..my eperience with these was very upsetting !

I was so ecxited to find these on the intranet since my local Publix stopped carrying them. Well now I know why. They were really stale tasting with a strange acidic aftertaste. I oredered a case and threw them all away.

I order these to make "Artichoke Bottoms" appetizer. I have ordered them to be delivered across the country for family gatherings so I don't have to worry if I can find them locally.

4 cans Artichoke bottoms - rinse and dry
3 cups grated fresh parmesan cheese - or buy shredded in deli
1 cup mayo
6 cloves garlic - finely minced
4 teaspoons FRESH lemon juice
4 teaspoons lemon zest
1/2 cup pine nuts - coarsely chopped

Put bottoms in cookie sheet with sides - make sure they lie flat, may have to slice a little off bottoms. Combine Parmesan cheese, mayo, garlic, lemon juice and lemon zest. Mound mixture into bottoms. Sprinkle with pine nuts. Bake 20 or so min at 350. If bottoms are large, you can cut into halves or forths for easier eating by guests. Tip: you can fix the bottoms, make the mixture, fill the bottoms before guests arrive. Sprinkle with nuts and bake. Very rich, very good, easy to make...M.C.

They tasted bland and a bit tough to me. I moved the bottoms from their can into a container with a pickling brine that added some flavor after a few nights in the cooler. Perhaps Reese should try selling them in a pickled version.

Few fibrous pieces, decent flavor. low salt. The citric acid part tastes strange and gives an odd sour-sweet note that would be better left out. Would be 4 -5 stars if they make these packed in plain water. Theses are decent and I'd buy them again.
