Generally happy with this rack. I have not had any problem with the weld that other reviewers have noted, but perhaps they use heavier loads. I mostly put a lot of geocaching articles in the Topeak bag--but the bag is still moderately heavy. The MTX bag, also from Topeak, slides in the rack without any trouble at all. Works as designed!

The only gripe I have is that I find it tough to get a really secure fit on the seat post. It took some trail and error with different types of sleeves (shims) around the release mechanism. Even then, it can wobbly around, or turn on the post somewhat. It's pretty tough to get it really tightened well.

As some reviewers have noted, I wouldn't really use this as a "Quick Release." Once you get it on the seat post, you wouldn't want to be taking it off all the time. Instead, I actually remove the entire seat post when I transport my hybrid bike.
I suspect it would be tough for ANY seat post rack to get a perfect fit, so I don't really blame Topeak for this. Seems that's just the nature of using a seat post rack.

Once I needed to get some replacement shims, and the customer service promptly shipped me some spares. That's what I call excellent service!

I have an existing Topeak rack & bag, and bought this new rack (and a new Trunk bag) for planned trip. On assembly of my bike at Washington Union Station we discovered the bag could not slide onto the rack due to a (new?) rack design with a higher rib in the centre of the rack. So there we were about to start a 300 mile trip with a bag that we could not attach to the rack. Much time spent hacking at the bag with penknife finally got it to almost fit, but now when taking a bad bump the bag can fall off. Not great!

Used this for about 6-8 months commuting 13mi to my office, carrying my Dell latitude laptop in the MTX office bag (compatible with the rack). This past week, the rack fractured, dropping my laptop into traffic. I got very lucky that it wasn't run over. Rack fractured just beyond the top weld. Worked great until then, but I wouldn't be able to trust using this rack again. Seen similar reviews of these racks fracturing like this in the same spot.

I had this product bolted to my mountain bike for cycle commuting. I trypically carry a dress shirt, socks, and some other small clothing items to work each day. This was never overloaded past it's 15 pound weight limit. After about 10 months of continuous use, it cracked at the weld.

I'm updating my review, as the customer service was spectacular. I called for warranty service, and the product was promptly replaced. Thank you.
