I've tried several different canned white meat chicken for making quick chicken salad or chicken casseroles, and for some reason Hormel tastes the best. You wouldn't think there'd be much of a difference between them, but there is. Hormel's tastes richer and cleaner at the same time. Don't know why.

This is an excellent purchase when it's at the $13 plus change price, but it also zooms up to $33 at times! (at the time of this writing)

The meat is firm and in large chunks that I often break apart, but if you want them large, you can't put small ones back together again. Also I would normally buy the 10 oz cans, because it works out to be cheaper, but 5 oz cans really are more versatile and the low price today is about average at a department store, for what might not be as good chicken. The little bit of broth in the can is good for substituting for water also, it's more flavor in your cooking.

So I recommend that if you want this item and are seeing the ridiculous price, put it into your cart saved for later and watch for the cart change notification that amazon will give you when you click on your cart.

Good stuff with a sometimes good price.

This may be a bit of an odd review. The Hormel Premium Chicken Breast in Water is probably the best canned chicken I've come across. The chunks are larger, and both the smell and color is vastly more appealing than other canned chicken brands. Plus, the price is right: getting these through Amazon.com as opposed to picking them up in the store has saved us a fair amount.

Now, the weird part: I have no idea how this chicken tastes. I order this for my cat, who is older and has severe digestive issues. He's a big fan. He gets really upset if he doesn't get his chicken twice a day, and the vet says that canned chicken is much gentler on his stomach than canned tuna. It's helped us to keep some weight on him.

If you're looking for a review on the taste... I mean, it's canned chicken... I mix it with mayo and put some chopped peppers and onions into it. Basically, the best thing ever. It makes it easy to forget that I'm a spinster, and I've become the kind of girl who eats canned meat and hangs with forty cats while pretending my life has meaning.

At least it's not spam.

I bought these to have for emergency, as I have already been through a 3-day ice storm/power outage. Well, I ran out of cat food so I gave them this & tasted it. Wow! Was I surprised. It tasted good straight out of the can, didn't need to add salt or heat it up! Of course the cats loved it too :)

Love the pop tops also.

I eat canned tuna and salmon a lot, and I got this wanting to add a little variety of protein from our canned land dwelling brethren. Some things just taste way better with chicken than with tuna. I get it, it's canned. However, this tasted nothing like chicken. Tasted nothing like anything really. If you're just looking for cheap, versatile protein, it's good I guess, but if you want to make simple chicken dishes, this won't cut it.
