I tried two of these for draining water and never got them to work at all. They seem so simple to operate, so I assume there isn't a trick to getting them going. But it is strange that Flotec would try to sell something that so obviously is non-functional. In any case, don't even bother with these things, they're pretty useless as far as I can see.

a dipper would be as productive. This item would be helpful for transferring small amounts of liquid from one container to another, but for anything over a couple of gallons, it is insufficient to the task. I tried to use it to transfer 15 gallons of water, and after ten gallons had been pumped, I carried the rest of it in 1/8th the time it took to pump the ten gallons. It takes time to rig it with the hoses and the drill motor, and by the time that is done, you could have done all that it can do with a large sponge. There are other pumps out there, readily available, that will do the work with less hassle.

One star means I hate it. This pump didn't even work for one use. It pumped a quart of water than quit. I sped the drill up to try to get it to work again and smoked it. I would not ever consider this pump if I were you.

I tried everything,..even at full speed with my top of the line drill, primed, ...I gave up,..water moves thru it so slowly you can bail faster with a dixie cup. Do not under any circumstance buy this junk. Mine wasn't defective,..it is just a perfectly working crummy pump.

I purchased this pump to drain out a few gallons of water at the bottom of our hot tub but it was pretty worthless. I originally had it on a cordless drill but the drill required greater RPMs so I hooked it to a power drill that had more than enough RPM to do the job but it just did not drain the way I had hoped and was way to slow. Probably good for draining a clogged sink or a small bucket. I was disappointed with the product so I tossed it in the junk drawer.

Not one drop was pumped. Little more to say than it doesn't work. As an aside, I didn't purchase this from Amazon-wish I had. . I just hope my local hardware store has a return policy as favorable as that offered by Amazon.

There isn't any other way of putting it - but useless. I had this for a while in case of emergencies. Well, today I tried to use it for the most simplest of tasks, taking the remaining two gallons of water from my aquarium. I would have been better off with a plastic tube, and some capillary effect - this thing didn't take a single drop through it. The only benefit from this device, if you want to call it that, is the guy that manufacturers it, and the companies that buy it for 25 Cents, and resell it for way more than it's worth are sitting pretty with the profits while we get frustrated. Save your money, time, and patience - stay away from this product!

I have one these also that finally died after 10 years. It never failed to work anytime that I needed it, oil , water , gear oil, ATF, bath tub water, any fluid that I attempted it worked great. I would go 2 years and never use it and it always worked great right out of storage. What destroyed it this time around was I forgot to pay attention to which way my drill was turning and it destroyed the impeller. I will order another one. Keep in mind that your drill needs to be on high speed for this work correctly.
