This was an exact replacement for our defective unit. It kept giving false alarms after some bug repellant was applied near it. Go figure...
My only complaints are that the unit did not come with wire connectors. I had plenty at home, but none at our campsite. It just delayed the replacement. The other issue is also a minor one. The screw heads on the screws that come with the unit are round head and should be flat head. If you use them, you have to bend the mounting tabs outward a bit so that it will slip onto the mounting bracket. This is a minor cosmetic issue as it creates an uneven gap between the unit and the base.

Each unit is stamped with the manufacture date, the unit I received was manufactured only a month or two before I ordered mine from Amazon. The stock they are selling is new and likely to last the recommended five years. Like many other buyers, I purchased mine to replace the exact same model that went bad in my RV.

Easy to install in my RV using existing 12 volt wiring under the bed. This unit seems to drain down my batteries. I've got 450 amp hour batteries that are well maintained and only a few years old fed by 200 watts of solar and a PWM charge controller. Every morning my batteries are down to around 70% and the only thing connected to them is this LP gas detector which is hard wired and runs all the time. I suppose you could wire in a switch and only turn it on when you are camping but I wanted something that simply ran all the time and was fool proof. Not sure if any unit would put this sort of drain on a battery bank or if I have a drain somewhere else.

I purchased this LP gas detector to replace an old one in our RV. It is the exact model of the old one, and it was very easily wired in. It comes with a mounting bracket, however if you are replacing the exact model, it just snaps into the old bracket. They last approx 5 years before it must be replaced.

I purchased this SafeTAlert LP Gas Alarm 20-441 MTI 20-441-WT 12V White Surface Mount Designer Series LP Gas Detectoras an exact replacement of my older one installed in my RV which was 5 years old & had stopped working. My RV is parked for the winter in a storage facility & the main reason for ordering the replacement was so I could keep the same bracket and just replace with this newer model. The PROBLEM is the Rebate Form links that "were" attached to this 20-441 model (and no longer are there as I wanted to mail in my rebate). They are now listed for items purchased 3/1/16-9/20/16. If I would have known rebate forms would change, I would have waited until March 1 to purchased this replacement as my RV is in storage until 4/1/16 and I was in no hurry to buy a replacement as it's been in my "RV storage box" for 8 weeks until I get my RV ready for spring. A phone call to the customer service line at MTI Industries, (maker of SafeTAlert alarms) proved to useless as they will not provide any older rebates forms.

Rebates now listed online are: 1/1/15--10/31-15 (...) (...)
