Seems great but very poorly made

Bought this on Amazon, as we have enormous quantities of acorns and hickory nuts in our yard.

When it arrived, the wheel wouldn't turn. One of the cotter pins had been pushed too far in and so it interfered with the cage. I had to manually bend it open to fix this.
Actual use was pretty simple and it DOES pick-up nuts. My daughter loved using it. But after just two or three uses, when I spread the wires apart to empty the nuts out, they stayed open. This makes the tool useless, and I couldn't fix it. I ended up returning it.

The construction is very cheap. The central wheel is a rough cylinder of wood, and a single coil of wire is wrapped around it, held in place by a cheap metal pipe clamp. The whole thing was painted green, seemingly with cheap spray-paint. Even if it had not broken so quickly, I doubt it would have lasted long and it certainly isn't worth more than $5 in terms of materials and construction

I'm very happy with this product.It does everything it is advertised to do and then some. It makes cleaning mine and my neighbors yards a lot easier on my back.
The only complaint I've gotten is from the squirrels.

A Live Saver!!!!!!!!!!!

I put my Roller Nut Harvester to use two days after it arrived at my home. I have to admit, it is one heck of a life saver. I got so tired of walking on acorns when I mowed the lawn, but there was no way I could bend down and pick up all of those darn acorns. I filled a 12 gallen trash can using the roller nut harvester in no time.

slow process

This thing works okay if you don't have as many acorns as we do to pick up. You have to go back and forth over the same area over and over in order to pick up a few nuts, empty them, then go again. We found a rake and shovel work a lot better for the many trees we have and trying to get them up fast so our horses wouldn't eat them. Also, I found the same item at half the price after I ordered and used them so I couldn't send them back (we ordered 2).
They work---just very slowly.

Good for nuts, not so much for shells

I bought this to pick up Hickory nuts from my yard. I've got 3 @$#! of them right in the front and they produce a lot of nuts. Unfortunatly @$#! squirrels eat them fast and leave shells all around.

This device is well built, the seller did a fantastic job with the price, shipping, and sending it fast. The device works well for round nuts but only fair when it comes to picking up the shells.

Still I'd recommend the device for picking up the nuts. For shells and massive amounts of nuts, using a 12 amp leaf blower with 200+ mph nozzle does a fair job. I guess nothing picks up nuts that are half buried in the dirt. If you blow at them too hard you just blow the soil away in a cloud and the nut stays there. I guess they are well-designed for procreation! Happy nutting! Grrrrrr!

Kinda works, but....

I bought the Roller Nut Harvester to pick up acorns from a number of oak trees in my yard. Every year squirrels bury the acorns and annihilate my lawn. The harvester works in the sense that it picks up a ton of acorns. However, it also pulls up all the grass along the way. So, if you don't care about things around the acorns (like grass), then this product is probably for you. If you're like me and you want to save your lawn from acorns, then this is definitely NOT a solution. Raking the acorns is more effective.

This worked and really enjoyed the product

It was disappointing. It came already used and broken. The wire wheel had a large gap and the acorns would fall out. I took a sandwich wire tag and mickey-mouse the wheel. This worked and really enjoyed the product, but felt I deserved to have received a new product. I spent 4 to 5 hours trying to communicate my issue with Amazon. The customer service folks hung up on me twice. But in the end a few folks stepped up and walked me off the ledge and made my fustrations experience okay. I would highly recommend the product but not the distributor. After a few twist ties it has performed adequately.

great pecan picker upper

neatest pecan picker upper I've seen or ever used. It is built well and again works great.
