I ordered the MD heat tape and then this since it is a MD product I thought the two were compatible . The instructions on the heat tape say to only use fiberglass insulation and not foam as it could be a fire hazard . The description is not clear these are foam only and not to be used over heat tape . Looking for the fiberglass . Will put these on the hot pipes coming out of my water heater so it will not be a total waste and have to be returned . Its my call so I took one star off for the unclear description and limited application . You have to cut the seam to open up the tube so you can put it on yourself . Using scissors or a box cutter works well . I found they were scored enough that one could separate them by hand but since they could tear that way it is not recommended . Otherwise very easy to apply . Sad I bought large because I expected to cover the pipe and heat tape also . Pipes can get condensation so not sure if it is ok to seal the joints and ends with Duct tape . Anyone know ? What I thought would be a simple installation takes a little thought and reading . Hope this helps . This is one product I might of been better off buying from a hardware to access advice also however the price on the heat tape saved me money ( used the discount outlet warehouse to save tax and $$$ off normal cost ) . The insulation cost about the same or a tad more then local but was worth it considering I didn't act in fall when I should and there was 2 feet of snow on the ground the day I need this with the colder months of winter still ahead . Product is easy to work with and appears to be high quality foam . If your using in a place where heat tape will not be utilized I would recommend this very highly and size to the outer diameter of the pipe .Read more ›

I bought these for my son's birthday party so that I can make lightsabers with the children.
They seem very well built and thick. I will be getting to see children hit all day with them I'm sure but they are going to work perfect for my needs. If I was looking for insulation I would definitely buy these though, they are light weight and seem like they would be a breeze to install. I've already cut them in half for the lightsabers and they were very easy to cut. Excellent purchase. Thanks!

This made winterizing the pipes in the crawl space an easy job. Put them on in the fall and winter is almost over. We have had below freezing wind chills and below freezing temps. The pipes never froze. Am very happy with the price and protection they offered. Plus they were shipped fast! The best part, all I need to place them on the pipes was scissors.
