Shoes definitely matter and I'm glad I got such a great deal on these.
These are my outdoor shoe - comfortable enough for all day but sticky and great performance for me (9s outside.)
They arrived quickly and fit perfectly.

When we joined our rock gym nine months ago, I scoured reviews of climbing shoes on several websites. The consensus was that the Mythos are comfortable enough for all-day crag climbing, and still solid performers. The next time at the gym, I paid attention to what people were wearing, and we saw Mythos on many feet. My wife and I both bought these and have no regrets.

Because they are natural leather, these don't stink up the way that synthetic does. (Our kids have synthetic shoes, and they quickly smelled like death). Still, climbing shoes are notorious for eventual stinkitude. We treat ours with Gear Aid Rank Away Odor Eliminator which is working well.

Leather stretches out - a lot - which could either make these shoes more comfortable, or too loose over time. Almost every review we read of the Mythos urged us to order ours sized too small. I averaged the down-size recommendations on all the reviews I could find, and the average recommendation was -1.5 US sizes from our true size, which is what we ended up doing (n = about 40 reviews, range -0.5 to -2.5 US sizes; the dude who recommended -2.5 sizes clearly has a foot-binding fantasy). The first two weeks were painful, but having now had ours for nine months they've stretched out to a mostly comfortable size - but we think just -1 US size would have been perfect. Note: the Mythos come in European sizes, so you will have to convert back and forth.

We eventually upgraded the old-fashioned laces on our Mythos with Nathan Shoe Lock Laces because the laces tended to come undone mid-climb. Who wants to retie their shoelaces halfway up a wall? We worried that the elasticity of the lock laces wouldn't work, but they turned out to add to the comfort.

This shoes is great for beginners and experts alike. Super comfortable. One of the best shoes for crack climbing because of the narrow toe profile. Also great all around shoe for edging and smearing. I normally wear Size 10 (Euro 43) and have low volume feet. Mythos in size 42 fit well with toes totally flat for comfort and crack climbing. 41.5 had my big toe still flat and the other toes just slightly bent. 41 my big toe was just slightly bent and the others bent a little more. 40.5 fit tight with toes moderately curled. These shoes are all leather so I expect them to stretch quite a bit. Impeccable Italian workmanship. The price is a bit higher, but I'm told they'll last longer, and you'll get more resoles out of them, making them actually a better value. As with any climbing shoe, proper fit is very personal, and I don't recommend buying them online unless you've tried them before. Disclosure: I work for a climbing shop that sells these.

These shoes are by far the best I have worn. I have become a much better climber now that I can trust the grip on my feet 100%, and since these shoes fit my feet so well.

(I previously wore discount 5.10 and a mad-rock shoes) This is definitely worth the high price.

As far as fit goes, always try on climbing shoes before buying - Each brand's sizing is *vastly* different.

Very durable upper, and it should last several re-soleings.

This shoe is so comfortable, I can climb then get right back to belaying without taking my shoes off (yes i know climbing shoes are supposed to be tight) but these are just that comfortable. They're also great for outdoor climbing (top rope and lead). BUT ON A DIFFERENT NOTE they are not the most aggressive toed shoe for bouldering. I've had mine for about 8 months and I wear them probably 4 times a week and the rubber on the sides started peeling pretty early, so durability is not the strongest but it's fine. NOTE buy a half size smaller than usual, they stretch a little bit after breaking them in.

These shoes have been awesome. They arrived quickly and fit perfectly. My old pair climbing shoes had velcro and after about a year I wasn't able to get them as tight as I like, that hasn't been an issue at all so far.

I'm a casual climber who has worn these shoes for indoor only climbing for about six months. The shoe works well and is very comfortable. It provides the support I need when climbing, and unlike other shoes, I'm not dying to take them off after two hours of wear.

I'm a 60 year old newbie climber. Took some lessons and spend 1-2 days in the gym on the wall or bouldering. The synthetic rental shoes I used the first time just killed my feet. So with that in mind, I hauled myself over to the REI and spent an hour trying on shoes. These were the winners. The reviews are accurate-the soft leather will stretch after 3-4 hours of climbing. So I bought one size down (7.5 US size) and by the 2nd day of climbing, the fit was tight, but I didn't have the urge to yank them off after I came off the wall. The rubber outsole was stiff enough so I could stand on the smallest of toeholds and the sole was sticky enough so smearing worked well too. I'm pretty sure that wearing these on granite would trash the shoes in no time. Still, I won't be ready for outdoor climbing until the summer and these will work well for now. Finally, the price at $ 135 initially seemed high, but then I spend as much or more for running shoes and they're not made of nice leather.
