I bought this to hang a 13" diamenter ceramic platter. It is not nearly strong enough. The wire part is fine, and I like that the tips are coated with plastic to protect the plate. But the little springs can't handle the weight of a large platter. So unless you're trying to hang a 14" paper plate, I'd look for something else.

Stretching this hangar to fit a 15" diameter plate was dangerous as well as useless. The hangar piece ended up in a position where it was unusable. I'll probably re-purpose this for a smaller plate. Just very disappointed that it wouldn't accommodate the plate I really wanted to hang.

It came with rust and broke while I was putting it on to the plate. Only thing I'm glad for is it broke before I hung it on the wall.
It wasn't for the size of plate they said it is going to work for so good luck.

cheap piece of junk. i doubt very much if this flimsy hook is gonna hold a 30lb plate. that's the reason i purchased it and there is no way i'm even going to attempt to hang my heavy plate on this hanger----oh yea, no way is it gonna hold an 18 inch plate. my heavy plate is 17 inches and this hanger will only stretch half way up the plate. with this hillman hanger i'd say save your money and look elsewhere for a large heavy plate hanger.

I had a large plate and measured it at 17"(and that was outer edge to outer edge) but his hanger just could not handle the stretch so I was not able to use it. Definitely would not handle a 18" plate. Very disappointed.

Good luck getting this to stretch to 18" as noted in the description. I bought this to hang a tray that is 15" and I can barely get this to stretch to 11" (I measured it). When I tried to attach to the tray, it snapped back and one of the solid pieces flew across the room. I like the concept and the protectors on each end, but this will never stretch to the specifications mentioned in the description and on the packaging.

Doesn't work for what I need, but in full disclosure it is probably due more to user error. I needed a hanger for a curved platter and this is better for a flat plate. I wish the description were a little more clear on that. It will not work for any curved plates.

The plate hangars are ONLY good for a maximum of 16 inch plates not 18" as advertised. At 16 inches device was stretched to its limit!!!
