I work w/ my local VSA ( voluntary services for animals). I took in a few kittens that's eyes were almost completely shut with crust & their little noses were covered in crust & mucus. A pitiful site :( . I quickly took all 4 to the vet within 24 hrs. WELL, after they said it was "Feline herpes", (an upper respiratory infection that doesn't go away but can be controlled) IT ended up costing me close to $800!! With Vet costs, testing costs, & the "Wonderfully expensive" medication they gave me for Each cat, That helped some but not much!! They had liquid meds, meds that had to be put INTO their eyes like 4xs a day, & some other antibiotics. It was awful , & seriously it didn't help much at all. It lessened it some, but they needed the meds constantly! I looked on the Internet for any info I could find & found out about LYSINE !! I really thought it was a bunch of "bull" but was willing to TRY anything! I 1st bought a paste & a gel- the cats hated it. I then bought this powder. I mixed it into wet food ( not too much or they taste it!) & they ate it! After a week I noticed all their symptoms were really improving! I had STOPPED the Vets meds as the cost was killing me & not really helping them. After a MONTH all the cats were totally better, no crusty gooey eyes, no crusty nose, sneezing, ALL GONE!! I was amazed!! I studied it more, the use of L LYSINE & it's effects. It surpresses what makes the Herpes virus flare up in the system, so taking it on a Dailey basis means you won't get the flare up & the full blown symptoms! It also works in humans as well. I kept the kittens & have given them forms of LYSINE for 2 yrs now & they have NOT had another flare up since! If I stopped it for a few months, I noticed some sneezing & gunk in their eyes in the 1st year & quickly put them back on it!Read more ›

Onf of my cats has frequent recurring eye problems due to the Herpes virus (not eye infections; just red and irritated). I tried crushing Lysine tablets into his wet food but he always seemed to find it and wouldn't eat. This poweder dissolves instantly into wet food and my cat just wolfs it down! His eyes have much improved. I was dubious at first about ordering off the internet but I'll definitely order this product again.

My husband's cat has a chronic viral sinus problem (feline herpes). When he is on Viralys, his breathing stays relatively clear, he does not sneeze as often, and is more active (I'm guessing due to his being able to breathe better).

I do fully recommend this product. My cat had both eyes healing very slowly with the very expensive drops and ointment from the animal optometist. He had ocular herpes severely. The poor guy even had to have an eye operation.

I started giving him Lysine from a pill's contents, but he could detect it in his food. With this powder, I don't even have to mix it in the moist food completely, he justs chows down as usual.

His eyes are clear now and the meds are for usage once a week only, for maintenance. There was a very distinguished improvement in his healing after the Lysine supplementation. I don't know why the vet didn't educate me about using L-Lysine to help stop the progression of the herpes virus. It worked very well, I will buy the big bottle next time!!!

Stay tuned, I have a feeling that I can discontinue the meds completely and rely on the Lysine to keep the herpes outbreaks at bay. When they run out, I will try the Lysine only and see if I am right.

I bought this for my cats that sometimes get Upper Respiratory Infections and seeing as how I have 13 kitties this makes it VERY easy to distribute L-Lysine. I generally put it in their wet food and they devour it without any problems.

I have been sprinkling 'human form' lysine on my cat's food for years. (He was an abandoned little guy and the vet feels he was most likely malnourished at an early age and has feline herpes virus as a result)
Since there is no cure, I was stuck with lysine as a preventative measure. I am certain it made his food taste chalky, as he would only eat a little at a time, and very reluctantly. My other cats wouldn't even go near it.

I am so happy to have found Viralys. You open up the jar and know right away any cat would love the taste by the smell alone! LOL My cat eats all of his food now and I can breathe easy that his outbreaks will be less frequent and shorter in duration.

Thank you!!!!! :)

My 15 year old rescue kitty started having sinus and upper respiratory issues a few years ago accompanied by vet bills for infections. After the second ear infection when I also complained of his runny nose, my vet said he had herpes and gave him the Viralys gel. It helped but was messy and he hated the taste so I had to mix it with food, and when it ran out I did not run out to get more....yep bad mom, the poor little guy's runny nose came back. Then my vet gave me dirty looks and pulled out the powder, which I think worked quicker and better. It is easier to mix with food and he doesn't mind if I just sprinkle it over the top (the gel had to be mixed in good with enough canned food to cover the smell or he would turn his snotty nose up and walk away). We live a few hundred miles from my favorite vet, so buying the Viralys powder and other non-visit supplements on Amazon saves a little money and is very convenient. My vet said that most cats, especially ones who have at any time in their life been an outdoor animal, will carry the herpes virus and that in most cases it doesn't do anything until they get older or have their immune system compromised in some way. Anyone who has an older kitty who suddenly seems to have nasal allergies, should probably talk to your vet about Viralys. Those stuffy sinuses, runny eyes, and runny nose do eventually get infected just from the irritation, my little guy has had his sinus and ear infection rate cut down to almost nothing since using the Viralys powder.
