Editorial Reviews

Product Description

There is a war waging in Little Rock, Arkansas. A town where the homicide rates are higher than in both New York and Los Angeles. Welcome to the setting of Marc Levin and Daphne Pinkerson?s series of award-winning HBO documentaries Gang War: Bangin' in Little Rock and Back in the Hood: Gang War 2. Gang War: Bangin' In Little Rock chronicles the lives of rival gang members. Allowed unprecedented access to this culture, the producers of Gang War offer a frank, unblinking look into the lives of local Bloods, Crips, and Folk. Back in the Hood: Gang War 2 follows Leifel Jackson, one-time leader of the OGCs (Original Gangster Crips), as he is released from prison after almost a decade behind bars. Jackson was one of the targets in the 1993 drive-by shooting captured in the first "Gang War" documentary. Now he is trying to live straight and make a positive difference in his neighborhood? but every day is a struggle.

DVD Features:
Audio Commentary:Audio commentary with producer/director Marc Levin, producer Daphne Pinkerson and former county coroner Steve Nawojczyk
Interviews:One Decade Later: Interviews with Taz, Kool-Aid and Misty Notes from the Coroner: Interview with Nawojczyk 10 years after the original airing Russell Simmons interview

5.0 out of 5 stars For those who only have Wannabes in their town, February 3, 2007
This is a 2 video set that does a then-and-now look at the gang problem in a perhaps unexpected location. The videos are excellent for trying to understand the gang mentality from a documentary perspective.

If your Smalltown, USA leadership is denying the existence of gang members 'cause they're just wannabe's, get this video and show it everwhere you can.

4.0 out of 5 stars Powerful, April 5, 2008
I heard about this from a website and knew I had to see it. It was very powerful and engaging. I have never been able to replicate the feeling of being raised in this type of a society. This dvd was able to capture all the emotion necessary to accurately depict the situation for many of its members. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to view it. Excellent purchase!
