I've tried a number of different topical treatments for cold sores, and this is one of the best I've found. It's no miracle, but it does speed up the recovery. I've found that if I catch it at the beginning, it doesn't prevent the cold sore altogether, but it stops it before it gets very bad and probably cuts the healing time in half. Also, it puts a stop to the itching/burning sensation. If you haven't tried this and other things seem not to have worked too well, I'd say it's certainly worth a try. (However, what I've found works even better is toothpaste.)

I tried using this stuff the very first day I felt a cold sore coming on. I paid almost $20 for it at a local drug store. 24 hours later, my cold sore is still there, my lip still swollen from the blisters, despite using it according to directions. It hasn't gotten as bad as a regular cold sore would probably be by now, but by no means is it gone, either. There is a disclaimer on the label that says "individual results may vary..." so I wouldn't exactly call their "guarantee" a real "guarantee."

I have had the unfortunate experience of having had cold sores since the age of 4 (I am now 34). I have tried product after product on the market and nothing every worked this well. I got the cold sore on Friday. I started using abreva and walked around with the white gloppy spot on my lip all day. Fun! By Saturday my cold sore was huge. I was desperate and went to my local CVS and saw Releev. I said "What the heck!" and bought it. I was skeptical. I brought it home Saturday evening. Applied it twice at the blister stage. By Sunday afternoon the sore was dried up and by Wednesday of that week it was GONE. Now it usually takes up to 10 days for my sore to disappear completely. This is 5 days people! 5 days! I cant say enough about this wonderful product. Thank you makers of Releev! Thank you!
