This review is from: Dragonball Z BanDai Hybrid Action Mega Articulated 4 Inch Action Figure Super Saiyan Goku (Toy)
I'm a HUGE Dragon Ball fan and I had all of the old old old school DBZ figures from Irwin Toys/Bandai from the 90s and those don't even have articulation as the toys of today do. That said I really wanted a cool Super Saiyan Goku figure for my stop motion film on Youtube unfortunately the SSJ (Super Saiyan) Goku figure i had could only move his arms...(Kids today are lucky...lol) So since I already recently got a SS4 Goku with articulation from this same company I decided to buy this figure! Unfortunately I wish I had chosen something else otherwise. Once I got my SSJ1 Goku figure, I opened it to see if the articulation was as described it was true BUT then I noticed something.... This figure is smaller than My SSJ4 Hybrid Goku! And Once I said "well that minor" I would be further disappointed, as I moved Goku's arms, the entire sleves from his gi fell off along with his arms! I was disappointed. My SSJ4 Goku's arms didn't break off and it was bigger! This figure was a waste. So now his gi falls apart just from moving his arms. So Now it just sits as a collectable statue and not a figure. So now I had wished I had bought that Gogeta or Broly figure instead. Please pass on this Goku figure.

This review is from: Dragonball Z BanDai Hybrid Action Mega Articulated 4 Inch Action Figure Super Saiyan Goku (Toy)
I just want to get the fact that I'm a DBZ fan out in the open, and anything after the Frieza saga was crap. That being said I can honestly say all DBZ toys looks terrible. My first and only DBZ toy growing up was an Imperfect Cell, and he looked great, but any other character whether it be Kirllin or Gohan just looked horrible, blocky, and unnatural; mostly because your going from 2D to 3D.
That fact alone makes this figure all the more impressive.
When I first saw this on Amazon I thought 'Oh wow, this looks fantastic', like straight out of the show. When my order did arrive I was a *little* disappointed that he looked different from what they were advertising, but that disappointment was quickly replaced with awe and respect for Bandai. When they say Mega Articulated they mean just that- hands twist/move, ankles twist/move, legs twist/bend/move, arms bend in TWO different places, and his hands can be switched out for different looks- if there's ANY pose you can think of, Goku can pull it off.
A big claim to be sure, but certainly not a bluff.
I spent nearly 20 min. fooling around with this guy, making him pose for Kamehamehas, powering up, even doing the infamous stance against Frieza when he first ascended. In fact, he's so articulate I got him to get one hand holding a closed fist, and flying through the air ready to elbow some unlucky S.O.B. How is it possible to make Goku float? Simple, Bandai was smart enough to include a stand to hitch your figures on just in case you have some clever poses. The figure is also durable from what I can tell, and I've dropped him a few times on accident.
There is a dark side to Goku though. His box and everything in it is in a foreign language, I'm guessing Chinese. I found this funny, and a little cool, because Goku comes with a card that I think tells his height and weight. No instructions telling you what can and can't bend will have you playing around with him, testing his limits on your own. Another problem is he's not the most balanced figure out there, and even the slightest twitch will send the mighty SSJ tumbling down. In fact, if you plan on using any poses that involve his legs NOT being straight, your going to have to use the stand they give you. Also, for anyone out there who bent his arms and they popped out, or if you've heard of reports saying that, it's not broken. The cool thing about the way he's designed is his joints aren't glued in, but rather everything on him are pegs. This means if you drop an arm, pop it right back in and he's good as new!
My only complaint with Bandai is they only made a few of these figures and then dumped them, moving on to much much MUCH worse looking and working DBZ 'action' figures. This is like trading in a brand new '08 sports car for a '98 Oldsmobile. They really had some awesome, groundbreaking figures for only $17.95+, and instead of sticking with these masterpieces they ditched them for junk. If your a DBZ fan cross your fingers and hope they made your favorite character, otherwise you'll miss out on the greatest DBZ action...heck, the greatest action figures period.
