after set-up, works like its supposed to with the 4 color gels to add some variety :)

dOnt forget about the sEtuP!

First off you are gonna have to secure the ceiling mount with the three included screws and point the pin spots on either side to get the most out of you mirror ball. Now where ever you mount the rotating motor you are going to need the lights set pretty close by and man those things get very hot very fast. And as for the first time i've handled this equipment, I found both the mirror ball and the lights to be heavy-duty (good but heavy).

What I did was made a contraption which included drilling the ceiling mount onto a 2x4 from the top of a bookshelf in my living room so i didn't actually have to drill into the textured ceiling. Then I just positioned the lights on different levels on the bookshelf and I was set. The lights come attached to brackets but didn't feel like drilling more holes =)

Also the two lights power cord is 3 prong so make sure your extention cord, if you use one, will work.

REMEMBER the motor to power the ball is CEILING MOUNT ONLY it will NOT work unless it is somehow attached upside down onto something because there is a 1.5 ft rotating chain that the ball will hook onto.
The picture shown with the black motor is actually upside down dont think you can pop the ball onto that and place it on a table like i thought =P

after using this you will wonder how you could ever be happy with only one light in some other mirror ball packages. you really need two to shed some good light. enjoy

The product was as advertised. My only complaint was with the motor sold with this kit which rotated the ball at 6 rpm's which is way too fast. I ended up purchasing a separate 3 rpm motor that was perfect.

DO NOT BUY if you are affected easily by light changes!

I'm sure you've read many other comments that say this thing spins way too fast and they are all correct! I even purchased the American Dj M-Hdac8 3 Rpm Mirror Ball Motor which is supposed to slow the ball down but we still had to turn it off after 20min because it was making our party goers dizzy and sick to their stomachs. It is also not as easy to set-up as it claimed to be, you have to be very careful by making sure the Pinspots are not to close but not to far. It should come with 3-4 Pinspots for better coverage. I guess the only positive comment I can make is at least it wasn't very expensive.

Bought this for a Disco party in our basement. The ball and lights were great, but that thing spins around so fast you get dizzy and want to vomit in under 3 minutes. We had to turn off the motor on the disc ball during the party because it was just too much for our guests.

It would be a great package if the ball moved a little slower around. Not even sure how to fix that. Disappointed.

I was really impressed with this disco ball set up. Bought it for my 9 year old daughter for Christmas. She loved it - installed easily, we mounted the 2 lights on her wall and the disco ball on the ceiling - very cool - motor is quite, turns nice and smooth. With average use - I expect it to last a long time.. I may buy another motor set up and 2 more lights just for the play area in the basement - they (both my girls) love to dance - this adds alot of fun for the kids for sure.

I bought this set for my (just turned) 8 year old daughter for Christmas, and I think this was ***THE*** present this year. My 3.5 year old son loves it too. The ball is much lighter than I thought it would be (which is a good thing) but still seems solid & well made. There were no broken mirrors or other issues. We have a tile-type ceiling in our basement, so I screwed the motor to a board and popped up one of the tiles and slipped the board in so it sits across the frame (I'm glad one of the other reviewers mentioned this - I'm not sure what I would have expected, but probably would have thought I'd be able to hang the motor on a hook). The lights also seem to be good quality, but it's only been a week, so no experience with them burning out yet.

My only complaint (and the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5) is that like other reviewers have posted, the motor spins too fast for my liking (the box says 5 rpms). I'd say 2 or 3 rpms would be better. It does make me a little dizzy, but it doesn't seem to bother the kids at all, so I guess that's alright. Motors are pretty cheap, so maybe I'll buy another one sometime.

My daughter's birthday party is in a couple of weeks and she is *beside* herself with excitement about the dance party they're going to have!

I installed this kit on my back patio under the roof structure so it's out of the elements. It's been up for 4-5 months. After about 1-2 months the lights stopped working. The bulbs have burned out. We run the lights most nights for 1-4 hours. So maybe that is the lifetime of the bulb...i don't know. Replacement bulbs are available for $4-5. I haven't replaced them yet...hoping that's all it is. When it does work it lights up the whole yard (good size yard) and it's supercool.
