I can always use some steel as I am a newbie to learn welding, and enjoy more so in reviewing business ethics, and policies etc. Welding as I said is a new adventure for me and a heck of lot more intresting, but I must say that I never would have thought of buying steel online. The deminsions of the pruduct description for the piece I ordered was not disclosed, but still curious. My initial wanting was a 1x2 rectangular steel tubing hopefully about 14 inches in lenght to work with, but I took my chances and recieved a 2x3 in a 12.2in lenght and weighs 3lbs. 10.4 oz. A500 mild steel at 0.12 wall thickness. THE AMAZING PART ! It was shipped and received by me in less than 15 hours. The steel was not deburred after cut so be careful. Packaging was over adequate and almost mis represents the product, but hey, it's probably a general box used for various lengths. Box lenght dimensions 1'x2.2'x2". Package stated actual weight being at 5lbs. Though this must be an rounding method by the shipper. (FedEx) Anyway...-1 star for 2 reasons. #1 no clear deminsions listed and #2 being burrs that may put shipper and/or reciever a lanceration. I am still learning my steel but all in all know what exactly your looking for. Most chose not to experience things the way I do because it can be costly. Paid more than 15 but less than 20 so, I'll be more defined next time around.

Was pleasantly surprised to find that I am able to order small quantities of metal with Prime Shipping for when I don't want by a full 20' stick from the local steel yard.
Measurements of the 2x4 .120 wall piece I ordered were spot on and it arrived on time as expected.

Just what I needed to make 2 6" stand-offs. It sawed fairly easy with my portable band saw but drilling six holes is a nightmare. waiting for a new carbide tipped drill bit (for hard steel) from Amazon. would reorder if needed again.

The good:

It's a big steel tube.
It's cheaper than at my local hardware, and faster shipping.
Regularly formed, no twists, bends, burrs, or other deformities.

The bad:

I don't have more of it?

Other thoughts:

I bought 72" and 36" lengths, sliced them up with a cut-off wheel on an angle grinder, and made a solid bumper mount for my 88' Dakota. The OEM front bumper mounts aren't easily found anymore (unless you go to the dealer or find NOS, both of which cost more than this and aren't as strong) and the local junk yard parts were all horribly rusty or bent. It's not standard equipment, but it gets the job done.

Item arrived quickly and was well packaged. Sawn end cuts were square and pretty clean.
It was the perfect size for my need. I cut it in half, welded the two pieces together and after drilling a few holes, had a rock-solid winch mount for my tractor.

It shipped in a reasonable time in easy packaging with no surprises whatsoever.

As expected, which is not always the case the the risky world of mail-order, it is rectangular tube is 2" x 1" OUTSIDE diameter, of 1/16"-thick steel. I ordered the 12 incher, and it is actually 12 1/4" long.

Industrial-looking and unfinished, as in its photo. Mine has a visible welded seam. It doesn't look like it would disappoint in any project.

This review seems superfluous, if you trust the photo & description, so it's written just to say that you _can_ trust the photo & description.

I bought this steel tubing to make a handrail for the front porch. I like that I was able to order just what I needed and did not have to place a large order. The metal was delivered in great condition. It worked easily and welded well. I am very happy with the finished project, it should last for many years.

WYSIWYG - the one I received was slightly longer than advertised (not more than 1/8"), and had very minor surface rust, just like the stock image. It was packaged better than I would have done, and arrived within the expected time. What more can you ask for?
