I ordered this online at Amazon after reviewing every "air mouse" out there. This item seemed like the best fit for my needs. After receiving the item I immediately plugged it in and got to work on using it. It was very easy to use and took me about 2 minutes to get up and running to the point I thought I could do a full presentation with it. I went into explorer to save my presentation to the jump drive and it said the drive was full. ????? I was perplexed.

After visiting the site I found that the jump drive "forgets" information stored on it if it is not used for long periods of time. There was an available patch to fix the situation. Unfortunately, my corporation had blocked me from downloading the fix. I emailed Gyration support and they sent the patch within 5 minutes. I have to say this is the fastest support I have ever received from an organization. THANK YOU Gyration!!!! I would recommend this product to everyone no matter the cost. It is definitely the best presentation mouse I have ever used.

Fantastic, when it works -
1. extremely small size - easy to stuff in your pocket and take to work to use for presentations.
2. receiver even smaller - see pictures. And tucks into the pointer quite nicely so that you won't lose it.
3. recognized by win xp and vista as a mouse - will have basic mouse functions even if you do not install any software.
4. works fine from 30 feet - I have not challenged it at any distance longer than that.

Problems:
1. there are just a lot of times when it doesn't work ! - you can't find the mouse cursor on screen, and moving your wrist all around, you cannot locate it. this means that there are many times when you have to get up from your chair to fiddle with it and the receiver to find out what is wrong. Unfortunately - that negates the actual advantage of having the wireless mouse in the first place.

True: sometimes, this means that the gyroscope is confused, so if you lay it down for 60 seconds and then try again, it often will respond correctly.

sometimes turning the mouse off, then on again, will make it respond.

But all this means that over the past two months, there have been MANY times when I've spent 10 minutes trying to get it to work -- when all I wanted to do was watch my PC/HD-TV for a few minutes --- those experiences really kill the thrill of having the wireless technology in the first place. Truly, for those times, I would have been much better off if I'd just set up the computer by hand, then walked back and sat on the couch , like in the days before remote control !

Also true: you may read on the internet a lot of complaints about lack of response moving your ARM around - that this is correct -- but if you read the instructions you'll see that it is not meant to respond to large arm gestures - if you only move the wrist, it works perfectly ( when it is working).

Bottom line: I think the gyro is just a bit too sensitive - it seems that benign motions of my hand must apparently set the thing spinning so wildly that it takes 5 minutes to calm down so that I can use it again.

This means it is a nice toy (for about $35 like I paid for it), but if you're willing to spend more, you can likely find a better product. Also - think seriously about whether you might need JUST a mouse (like this product), or a long distance mouse AND keyboard. I'll likely eventually spring for a long distance mouse/keyboard combination -- eventually. This product is pretty good, but just not perfect for my needs watching HD-TV / PC. I wouldn't return it, but I'd just want to warn all to take a look at other products before buying this. Worth $40 but not more than that.

technical details:

--radio frequency ( so does not require line of sight)
--claimed distance 100 feet - I can verify great function at 30 feet - don't know if it will work longer than that.
--functions as 3 button mouse, recognized as generic 3 button mouse by win-xp and vista.
--to use the many extra functions of all the buttons - you have to install the proprietary software on that particular machine ( which means if you are traveling to do a presentation on a "foreign" computer, you'll be stuck with only 3 button mouse function - which still is usually enough for powerpoint etc.

One great product.. It's not goin to be great 4 dedicated projects like fotoshop.. But it's great 4 chillaxin with computer on the tv or streaming videos.. Downloading.. Etc..
