It does it's job and does it well. My horse had severe and I mean severe thrush when I bought him. After changing farriers, because even though his heels were falling apart and his hooves smelt, there was nothing wrong??!!!!

The new farrier recommended this product and I have been applying it twice a week for 6 weeks. He was amazed with the improvement in my horses feet. I paint it on with a small makeup/paint brush and that really makes a difference. I also scrub all the dirt off his hooves with my hoof brush and water before I apply the thrush buster.

Now I am back to once a week. Highly recommend this product.

The purple will stain you, but it does come off after you have washed your hands a few times.

Aside from the need to wear gloves when applying, this product is very effective. I used it on my two horses during a snow filled, wet week, and a week later I could still see some of the product in their hooves. It got rid of the thrush even in extremely awful footing conditions. (My horses do have the option of dry stalls, but choose outside.) It would be great if the bottle was designed with a longer applicator tip or some way to reduce the "purple mess" and stains.

I've always used THRUSH BUSTER for thrush problems.

It works fast and you don't need to use a lot of it.

You do need to be very careful with it though, because it is powerful stuff.
The bottle says to be careful as horses may kick because it might sting, but I've never had that problem and I've used it on very bad thrush cases.
It does stain like mad. So, be careful.

Recommended:
Apply it only in the grooves and sulcus, or the toe if needed (seedy toe).... but don't apply it on the sole. It's not necessary.
Use it once a week to keep thrush at bay if your horse tends to get it

For bad really bad cases:
Use it once (be sure to squirt it in the grooves and the sulcus (the groove between the heel bulbs)...and watch when the purple disappears. Add another dose when you notice no more purple. Continue to add a dose til the thrush is gone.

The cool thing about this being purple is that is how you know when the hoof has absorbed it and needs more (if the thrush is bad).

If the purple is gone or some of it is still there, and the thrush is gone, don't put more of it on,....just do maintenance if needed at once a week only.

You can also get the natural version which is a powder: No Thrush.
But in a pinch, Thrush Buster is best.

We've had ALOT of rain lately in LA = Lower Alabama and my 13 yr old draft mare had thrush in all 4 hooves. We've only been treating her 2 days now and the results are impressive. On advisement from the farrier, we clean the hooves thoroughly with brown bottle Lysol diluted with water, dry the hooves and then paint with Thrush Buster. Noticeable improvement after 1 treatment, very impressed with this product. And it's still raining here !

I've had horses for close to 30 years & I've found no other product that works this quickly or effectively. I'm not really keen about using formaldehyde but the volume you use compared to Coppertox is much less toxic than copper naphthenate. IMHO.

Works extremely well on my horse. I've been using it for years. If you get it on your cloths, use Oxyclean to get it out.

I don't see evidence this is better than Thrush-XX or Coppertox, but my farrier is allergic to those other products so I use this. It does work unless the thrush is in deep, like deep into the central sulcus. In that case I use a 50/50 mixture of triple antibiotic ointment and antifungal (clotrimizole), per Pete Ramey, which heals it up quickly.

This stuff cured the bad case of thrush that my horse picked up. The bottle might look small for the price, but a little bit of the liquid goes a long way, and in the end, it definitely works. I squirt some into my horse's picked hoof and then use an old makeup brush (I used to use a paint brush) to spread it around. Be very, very careful with this stuff. If it gets on your clothes, it's never coming out. However, it will come off of your skin in the shower with soap. It doesn't take too much effort to get off of your skin.
