We have had our garden pond for ten years, and each year have waged a battle on the green slime and string algae that made the pond less than attractive. Over that time, we tried a variety of products with limited, and often short lived, improvements. That was until we found Tetra Algae Control. It does the job as advertised, and now our pond stays virtually crystal clear. We can see the rocks and pebbles clearly at the bottom of our 2 ft deep pool, and our goldfish never looked better... now that we can actually see them on a regular basis. Obviously we recommend this product.

Put this in our 4,000 gallon pond that had a lot of string algae. Within a few days it was ALL gone and did not return for 6-8 months. I think this product works great (at least on string algae)

I'm sorry that others haven't had much luck with this product but I have had a very different experience. I have a relatively small pond (about 500 gallons) with about 100 "mosquito" fish, blooming water irises and a blooming lily plant. I get algae problems on a periodic basis even though I have a UV light going all the time. When I do, I add about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of this Tetra Algae Control and it gets things under control. Does it completely eliminate every trace of algae? No, but it gets it back in balance.

The fish and plants are still doing fine so I would say the claim that it is safe are accurate. I have heard that these little mosquito fish are very hardy but no more than the koi I had that became a raccoon's late night dinner. :-)

I'm buying my second container right now.

I used this after battling with algae for a short while. I tried other products which only produced half of the results I was looking for. I calculated the amount that was required for my pond after consulting their website I think it was (can't quite remember if it was there or on the container). When I saw the small amount that I came up with in my calculations I was a little skeptical and thought to myself that I was going to get the same results that I got from the other products. However, not wanting to harm my two kois, two other fishes, a goldfish and my water lilies, I went ahead with the dose I calculated. I poured it in the pond in the night and only got a chance to check the pond in the afternoon I got home from work the next day. I was so surprised at what I saw. The pond had cleared right up, the water looked clear and I could see the bottom of the pond once again.My fishes were fine and so were the plants. I am writing this review about four months since I used that dosage and I have had no need to use it since, maybe partly due to the fact that I have taken other steps such as adding a UV filter and ensuring a larger percentage coverage of the pond by plants.

My order arrived last Sunday, and I added it to our backyard pond that is home to a gold fish and a water lily. Our pond was so infested with green algaethat I was worried about our goldfish. Today (day five after adding to the pond) the fish is alive and happy and so is the water lily, and the level of green algae has been reduced considerably. The formula to calculate how many galons of water your pond has is on the bottle, although I did not know that and went online to find and calculate it myself. It is important to add the right amount of the product. For my pond that holds about 450 galons I added about 40 mL.
