I've been using Craftsman magnetic trays for many years, and they have all worked fine at keeping iron and steel parts together. When I decided to get a few more, I thought I'd get a few different makes and styles for comparison.

I ordered The Advanced Tool Design Magnetic 5 1/2" Stainless Steel rectangular parts tray, the Advanced Tool Design Model ATD-8760 Stainless Steel round parts tray, and the Titan 11061 Mini Magnetic Parts Tray. They are all great. however the ATD models have stronger magnets and are sturdier. In fact the Adv. Tool Design 5 1/2" rectangular has unbelievable magnets. you can literally hold a hammer upside down with this thing. It takes 2 hands to remove it from my jointer stand. These ATD folks know how to make magnets. Don't get me wrong, the Titan 11061 is fine as well, but not in a league with the ATDs. But then it's $2 less expensive thgan the ATD-8760. Actually, Titan is shinier - if you're into appearance :-). The Titan also got dented in shipment - not that it matters for the application for which it is intended. The ATDs ship in cardboard boxes where the Titan ships unprotected.

I bought this (locally for $4.99, which seems to be the standard hardware store price) but had to comment here. The tray is cool; I have embedded a layer of 16ga steel in my boat's lab bench for magnetic fixturing, and this is exactly the kind of thing that's useful. The magnet is plenty strong enough for this application.

But that label is extremely nasty. Even using Bestine, which generally makes short work of such adhesives, I had to scrape at it for a good 10-15 minutes before it was finally clean. And then, surprise, I noticed a second label on the outside... very absurd for a stainless dish: "WARNING - this product contains chemicals, including lead, known to the state of California to cause birth defects and other reproductive harm. WASH HANDS AFTER HANDLING."

Seriously?

I love this, very heavy duty and it worked to magnetize a screwdriver. Now, if I can just get hubby to use it when he takes things apart! People complained about the label being hard to remove, yes, it is really stuck on there (don't know why companies insist on doing that when there are removable glues now). Anyway, with my trusty Scotty Peeler and De-Solv-It, it was not bad at all. See my photos of removing it.

This product is cheap and it works. My only problems are with the strength of the magnet and because the sticker is difficult to remove, otherwise a good buy. This is good if its sitting on a table, but don't expect it to old a lot of parts on a vertical surface or hanging upside down like premium more expensive trays can do.

I would buy it again, but I wish the sticker wasn't there.

I have to admit that I didn't buy this magnetic tray for any kind of mechanic duty! I bought it to strongly hold my pins while I quilt and sew! The magnetic pin trays sold for sewing aren't strong enough for my liking, so a friend recommended this type of tray. It does the job and then some! It is very strong enough to hold screws, nuts, and bolts with no problems. I love it when a product does exactly what it says it will do!

Can't believe I haven't bought one of these sooner. I've seen casual and professional PC builders use it and it's really amazing. Sticks to any surface and has a strong holding magnet for screws and bolts that might otherwise roll around or get disorganized.

Seriously, at this price, if you're a PC enthusiast or builder of any kind, buy one right now.

The magnet is rather weak. It will hold very small parts, but nothing large. The magnet is strong enough hold to tray to a ferromagnetic surface, however. The sticker is rather obnoxious in both size and difficulty to remove. After receiving this tray and being disappointed, I ordered a different brand when I wanted another tray in a larger size. That tray (a Tekton) had the holding power I expected and was happy with. I'd avoid Titan brand trays. As with most of these trays, the magnet is in a ring, meaning objects only hold in place when put on that ring (the location of the ring can be seen on the bottom side).

I actually use this handy little tray in my craft room. I use pins and a lot of dies when making cards and I kept losing small pieces. Now I just set them in the tray until I'm ready to put them back where they belong and nothing gets lost anymore. It doesn't take up much room and is sturdy enough to not tip over. Perfect for me.
