Love these Spax Screws ! They only cost slightly more than the cheaper screws that often break and require pre-drilling. Plus the heads won't strip out either ! On a recent project I actually found that these were less expensive than the regular lag bolts at HD. I ask myself why would I use any other screw than these for projects that really matter.

The orange big box store carried "crown bolts" that always stripped. These are high quality. The teeth on the front treads really help to get the screw started. I only buy SPAX and Grabber brands, when available.

These are the best wood screws I've ever used. Posi-drive head, easy to self start, no pilot hole needed in almost all cases. The metal seems to be very strong and I very rarely cam out the recess in the head and have never twisted the head off, like dry wall screws are prone to do.

These Spax fasteners work great! I have become a believer in these things for use in my woodwork. I won't use anything else.
