I have always wanted an ice crusher for my fresh brewed ice tea and now my new found martini recipes. Well this is one of the best purchases I've made on Amazon!

Yes, people complained about one ice cube at a time, that is not the case.

I have an ice maker and can put two to three cubes at a time and it crushes a large glass full within a minute! It makes perfect crushed ice and it's not loud like trying to use a blender.

I HIGHLY recommend this product for those of you considering the purchase!

My wife loves to crunch ice. We purchased a new refrigerator with an ice crusher, but the chunks were fairly large for crunching, with pieces about 1/2" to 5/8" in size. I was hoping that this unit would crush ice further to make more of a slushie ice. To my wife's delight, this unit crushes ice to a fairly uniform 1/4" and under piece size, perfect for crunching. The ice chunks end up soft and easy on the teeth, and, like a slushie, hold onto soda or juice for flavor. The unit is used two to three times a day and seems pretty rugged.

While the Deni 6100 replaced a 50's hand-crank crusher, it is limited by the fact that it is not adjustable and crushes ice to a relatively fine size, smaller than our old hand style that had 3 settings. There is a spring-loaded trap door where you insert the ice cubes and sometimes it catches a cube, but is no big deal. Watch out for 'counter flooding' from where the crushed ice collects inside the the outlet (where you cannot see it). While most of the ice falls into a clear plastic container the ice that remains in the crusher can result in a considerable amount water dripping onto the base as it melts if you do not replace the container. Also, the shape of the container is a bit awkward, as it can stick. It looks rather space-age and is compact so it does not take up much space (although it is probably not an appliance that tends to find a permanent place on the counter). Oh, yeah! It is fairly loud and sounds like something is breaking (which it is).

I simply wanted a machine that would crush small quantities of ice cubes for individual drinks. It will crush a couple cubes at a time into small pieces so by crushing approx. 8 cubes I have a glass full of crushed ice. I am quite satisfied with the machine and the price.

This does chop up ice into sizes I want.

However:

You put a single ice cube in the machine. They suggest using the door lever so you can insert the ice. It immediately explodes during chopping. Apparently, you are supposed to, with lightning agility, replace a cap over the chute for the top of the unit.

Then you repeat this procedure.

Do not, under any circumstances, put a cube in with your face over the chute...you may end up with an injury.

Just my observation. It works...but beware.

I bought the Deni 6100 Automatic 70-Watt Stainless-Steel Ice Crusher as an accessory for my new Big Boss Torpedo Multi-Purpose 10 in 1 Kitchen Appliance (Big Boss Torpedo Multi-Purpose 10 in 1 Kitchen Appliance, Black). I use the Big Boss Torpedo for making fruit juices, smoothies and mixed drinks that require crushed ice. My apartment's refrigerator doesn't produce crushed ice; therefore, I was forced to put ice in Ziploc bags and crush it in the kitchen sink with a hammer. This is a laborious process that is unsafe to me and damaging to the sink. I am very thankful that I bought the Deni 6100. It may crush ice only one cube at a time but it is much quicker, safer and efficient. Also, the Deni 6100 is very attractive and stylish and blends well with the rest of the décor in my kitchen, which was recently remodeled to resemble a Parisian sidewalk café. Most of my appliances, like this ice crusher, are black with silver trim.

My only complaint or concern is that owner must be careful when operating the Deni 6100 Ice Crusher. I recommend that the user place the ice on the trapdoor, push down the lever and then step back while closing one's eyes. Sometimes bits of ice will shoot outward when the ice falls inside and the crushing begins before the trapdoor has a chance to spring shut. Spitting chunks of ice is why the ice cubes should be crushed one at a time. It is best to allow one cube to be completely crushed before allowing another one to drop inside. The plastic tray will only hold about one cup of crushed ice at a time before becoming full. Seriously, it only takes about one to two minutes to crush one cup of ice.Read more ›

I was ecstatic to receive this as a birthday present but was utterly disappointed! Yes, it does crush ice, but the short-comings of the appliance far outweigh its crushing performance. The trap door system of inserting ice cubes allows ice to shoot back out at you if you are not quick enough. Crushed ice gets stuck inside and continues to drip out 10 minutes after crushing.

The worst part was that I was finding little pieces of metal in the ice and the water smelled like metal--not safe or healthy!
