I actually gave this as a gift to my brother so he could put my niece's art in the cabinet and we gave it to my dad for father's day. It was very easy to insert the art in layers on top of each other and it looked great in the frame. He opens it up and adds another masterpiece whenever she makes one. She loves it because it sits next to the other frames and it look professional, plus it's next to all the other frames. After we put about 10 drawings and paintings in there we started placing tissue paper in between to prevent transfer between pieces.

Okay the one flaw to this design is that it has a weird skinny metal peg that you insert into the back to use to hold it up on a table or desk. There is no where to store this peg, so if you lose it then pretty much you'll never be able to put it on a table or desk ever again. For instance, transferring it from wall to desk to wall again is going to be difficult without the peg.

However, it holds pictures quite well, and is easy to use and really looks nice. The kids drawings have never looked so cool before! And my fridge is clutter free now.

There are 2 ways to mount this art frame: 1) easy method, and 2) a "secure" method (you will see markings on the paper that comes inside the frame for both methods).

I would definitely recommend mounting "securely" with an anchor <-- this way, as you open and shut the doors while exchanging artwork, the frame will NOT move around. The easy method of hanging the frames (just by hanging from nails) does not seem like a safe way to mount the frame, as I'd be concerned about the frame falling/glass shattering.

Once mounted securely, this frame is AWESOME. It also comes in different colors (white and cherry), which you can get from the manufactuer's website (we got ours at Dynamic Frames).

I loved the 12 x 18 one so much I ordered 8.5 x 11 and then a 2nd 8.5 x 11. Just minutes ago one them fell off the wall while I was trying to change the picture. glass shattered and the frame took a beating too. BE CAREFUL WHEN CHANGING PICTURES. I wish it were a little more solid - Much more obvious after it dropped. One of the corners separated so you can see the wood seam.

I didn't realize how much of the kids artwork was 9 x 12. I should have gotten the combo of 8.5 x 11, 9 x 12 and 12 x 18. Unfortunately you can't buy the 9 x 12 individually right now.

Updating Aug 18, 2014. We have 3 of these. 2 of them have been dropped. One dropped off the wall as in my original post. Just now, my 2 year old pushed the other off about a 2 foot ledge, while I was rearranging things. The 2 foot drop caused so much damage on the 12 x 18 it isn't really usable.

Summary: POOR CONSTRUCTION and materials. It's not solid wood. It looks like pressed cardboard. I easily snapped in half the pieces that had broken off. I've had less expensive frames that withstood more. These are delicate frames. Treat them as such.

"spring-loaded pocket"? You mean sponge-loaded? 5 - 1" foam cubes attached to a piece of cardboard at 5 spots - corners and the middle - that's the spring-loading. "Pocket" must mean the tabs on the four corners of the box.

I love that its easy access to change out the artwork while its still on the wall, however when you open the door to insert a new one, the door is so heavy on the left side, that the whole thing swings on the nail on the wall and most of the time fell off into my hands.
To fix this though, I put a very small nail next to the bottom-right side of the frame that's barely visible. That way, when the frame wants to tip left when the door is open, the nail on the bottom right stops it from tipping.

I'm glad I found this frame. It'll be perfect for art work that my son brings home. It's easy to change the art by opening the hinge on the door. I also love that it can be hung horizontally, vertically, or it includes a stand that allows it to sit horizontally or vertically.
