There are several Belkin surge protection power strips that are being sold as the same product, be very careful as you shop online. Some have Ethernet, others Telephone. Some have cable organizer clips, others do not. BUT THEY ALL ARE MISLEADING YOU ABOUT THE SURGE PROTECTION! 3390 Joules would be the mark of a superior product. However these Belkin strips all are designed with 835 Joules protection between neutral-ground, 835 Joules between hot-ground, and 1720 Joules between hot-neutral. So it really is a 835 Joule surge protection power strip. That's mediocre at best. (835+835+1720=3390, but that is not the correct way to rate the protection being provided!)

I purchased this surge protector because it claimed to have ethernet support. If you are looking for RJ-45 jacks, you will be disappointed. It has RJ-11 and coaxial jacks, but no support for today's most common ethernet interface (RJ-45).

Other than that, the build quality is good. Too bad you can't test the surge suppression until you get that lightning strike on your home.

This Surge protector has good socket layout (ample space to connect enough of the ubiquitous low-power low-voltage power adapters, which is frequently absent on such products).
I have a bit of a beef with Belkin in their design of their surge protectors (they may not be the only offenders, but they seem to garner the most complaints). In order to provide surge protection the home outlet MUST be grounded (I suspect, but have not checked, that the over-voltage devices (probably MOVs) are strapped from the live wire to ground. It is not uncommon, especially in older houses, to have a floating ground (basically the electrical installer screwed up and did NOT connect the ground wire in circuit); I also suspect that most of the reported failure of Belkin devices to protect equipment during overvoltage conditions are probably due to this. The Belkin box will indicate the open ground with a red warning LED - but that's not much consolation to the user ((s)he could pay big bucks to have the installation corrected, which, ultimately, would be the wise thing to do - but not everyone is made of money). It should not be a huge added expense to add a switch (screwdriver actuated, or some other scheme, to prevent accidental actuation - or to have the device sense the open ground and respond by connecting the ground wire to the neutral bus (which is usually what happens anyway in a properly wired master breaker box)). As it stands users with this condition frequently think they're protected against overvoltage but, in fact, they are not.
BE WARNED - if the red LED is lit on the Belkin (or other) box you do NOT have over-voltage protection.
Belkin, are you listening??!!??

I bought several of these to ensure that all my electrical equipment were protected. The previous ones I had shorted out when we lost power a few times. Hopefully the Belkin ones will last longer than the generic brand I got at the Shack. I like the fact that they have a green light that tells you that you are protected, and when the light goes out, you know it's time to get a new one. The generic ones didn't have this and the only way I found out I wasn't protected was when I saw some scorch marks on the plug itself, pretty dangerous in my opinion. Anyway, I love that this model has 6 outlets to plug things into, and they are spaced out nicely so those larger square like plugs fit just fine.

They work well and offer good placement and spacing of outlets. Having the cable coax jacks is an added bonus (as I have had equipment get damaged from unprotected coax before). The cord is long and thick, although stiff as a result (uh-huhhuhhuhhuhhuh [Beavis & Butthead laugh]). The unit itself is kind of light and feels sort of cheap. The switch on these units feels rather cheap. With that said, I've purchased a few of these Belkin units and I haven't had any fail on me, so that's good. Over-all, they're pretty decent for the price they can be obtained for. It's just that as a stickler for build quality, I need to take a star or two off. I'd probably give it a 3.5 star.

I'm using 2 of these, one in the living room on the entertainment center, and one in my man-cave with the computer. I'm using the coax and most of the outlets on each. It has a little light to detect Grounded status, which is nice because I had some questions about the wiring in my rental house. I was hard-pressed to find a good, cheap protector (that wasn't just a dummy power strip) and didn't have phone-line protection (because I don't need that).
I've been very pleased with these, they even have little covers on each outlet to make them kid-friendlier.

I have recently noticed the trusted "Belkin" name brand is being used without much supervision. Several "belkin" products I have purchased over the last few years were Chinese Junk (burned out / poor quality). It seems the very obvious difference in quality of the packaging DOES in fact mean a lot about the name of "Belkin" being on a product.

As for this power strip, it was on flash sale and I needed one for ONE REASON ONLY - ALL THE RIDICULOUS POWER TRANSFORMERS THAT HOG ALL THE SPACE ON POWER STRIPS! (beyond a 'personal pet peeve".

Anyway, I think my next SOLUTION will be this option I saw on Amazon.

Ziotek ZT1212518 Power Strip Liberator Plus with Pass Through, 5-PackZiotek ZT1212518 Power Strip Liberator Plus with Pass Through, 5-Pack

Also, for some reason, it was not mentioned, but it is boxed and labeled at being "Super Slim" ... which in fact it is, but I don't see what difference it makes since the Big Power Transformers vary in size, shape and configuration (by product/brand etc...) that it gonna stick up - no matter if the 8 outlet is super thin, or an inch or two thicker.

ONLY ON MAJOR SALE PRICE would I recommend this.
