Ever since I started marathon running I've been searching for a calorie supplement. Ive tried the gels, goos and cubes but was never satisfied. The cubes are too big and its hard to breath while chewing them. The goos and gels are just too dessicating, its like putting peanut butter in my mouth and I need to get something to drink to wash it down.

The jelly beans are the best yet. They are smaller making it easier to breath while running. they do not dry your mouth and they also taste good, aways a plus. They provide 100 cals per pouch and contain no caffeine.

That said it is not the perfect product. The package can be difficult to open while running and occasionally a few beans drop out as you are trying to negotiate them out of the bag and into your mouth. Also they should make a variety pack. 24 packs is enough to last me a month and I prefer to buy only one at a time. The same flavor, while good, can get a little boring. They have other flavors, a variety pack should not be too hard to make.

Enjoy your exercise!

The product itself is great. Sport beans took me through my first half marathon and now into my training for my first full. I like the watermelon flavor the best. The Cherry has a bitter aftertaste to me, hence the 4 star instead of 5. I can feel a noticeable difference in my runs when I use the sport beans vs no product. I eat my first package about 45 min into my run and every 45 min after. Gels don't appeal to me and I love candy, so these seemed the obvious way to go. I've also tried sharkies, which are great, but tend to stick in my teeth and make my mouth water too much. The candy shell on these make them easier to chew and swallow quickly. And the smaller size is a bit easier to manage as well.

The seller I purchased from (hockey-something), sent one pack instead of one case. And cherry instead of watermelon extreme. Seller made it right by refunding the price differences, but be aware!

I used these for my marathon fuel, they got me through with no problems at all. I took them with WATER when I felt sluggish and they worked. They didn't upset my stomach which I was worried about because I started training with GU and had bad effects from that! great product.

I'm an evening runner. Yeah, I know it makes me much less likely to run my miles, but I hate waking up early. These sport beans are often the one thing that gets me up off the couch to hit the road. Eat a bag (or, really, for shorter distances you can just use a half bag) about a half hour before you need to go and boom, you have energy enough to keep going. I also bring an extra bag on longer distances. It's caffeine, so if you don't really partake you may get jitters. I'm a coffee person so this is pretty smooth for me.

The taste isn't terrible, but there is a definite twang of salt/electrolyte?. Be aware. Sometimes you can get a few that taste pretty close to regular jelly bellys though, and that's nice.

I prefer these to Clif ShotBloks, but the shotbloks taste better. These sport beans are easier to open and get at while you're on the run with sweaty hands, and you can just pour them out rather than tearing at a plastic package like a starving raccoon.

I use these for my over 12 mile runs. I just couldn't tolerate the various energy gels that most people like. They made my stomach turn. As a last ditch effort, I tried these and found them to be pretty good. Not crazy good like a warm cinnamon roll or a cold beer on a hot summer afternoon but not bad either. I found I got the same benefits out of the beans as I do the gels.

Okay, I am a huge fan! Who doesn't like energy jelly beans! I eat these thirty minutes before a workout and I find that my runs are very strong and steady! It gives me the energy I need. I used to use the goo in the pouch but it was too messy and made my mouth dry after a little bit but the beans are easy to eat. I haven't used them on a long run though and heard running while trying to eat them is a challenge. There is a re-sealable pouch which is great and it comes in different flavors. To me, I could care less about which flavors to try as they come in an assortment. Overall, I'm pleased!

On longer runs/ races these are a life saver. While I enjoy gu and clif bars both require a good amount of water just to swallow and cliff bars can be a little tricky to eat well moving. But with sport beans I get the same extra boost ( a little more honestly) without drying out my mouth of risking chocking. Plus having something to bit down on with some give makes long hills more survivable. I use one pack for half marathons, two for fulls.

I am currently training for my first half-marathon. Refueling is a unique challenge for me, as I had weight loss surgery (gastric sleeve) 7 months ago, and my 'baby stomach' is the size of a small banana. So eating a meal (even a small one) pre-run is just not possible for me. I do have a half-cup of oatmeal, coffee, and that's it.

I tried the GU gel packs - consistency of motor oil, hard to swallow while running, and caused severe nausea within 10 minutes of use.

I tried Life Savers next, but they are messy and hurt my teeth / get stuck in my braces. Yes, I'm 42 and have braces. Sigh.

I bought my first pack of Sport Beans at a pre-race expo (Asheville, NC, 10K a few months ago). I was very happy with the quality, the pouch fit conveniently in the front pocket of my CamelBak, and the beans were easy to chew/swallow (though I do advise a sip or two of water). However, the price ($3) per packet was steep, considering I go through one to two packets per long run.

Then enter Amazon and bulk pricing .... Ah, now my favorite 'fuel' for long runs at an affordable price! The lemon-lime flavor is tasty, albeit just a touch salty. Of course, it contains electrolytes so the saltiness is no surprise. I tried regular Jelly Belly beans during my most recent long run (14 mi ) but I actually prefer the taste of the Sport Beans now. Would highly recommend for all distance athletes - with the caveat that you carry some form of hydration to 'wash down'.
