One bit of advice. If you intend on placing this on a flat smooth metal surface, you better have a small screwdriver or nail that fits into that little hole. If you don't, you will NOT be able to get it off unless you can slide the magnet to an edge and pick it up from the edge of the table or flat surface. This is one strong magnet with a lot of potential uses.

Whilst still in the thin plastic blister pack I placed it against a steel shelf - it slid down.
I took it out of the packet and it stuck, but wouldn't hold more than a couple of pounds.
I have rare earth magnets 1/16 the size of this that hold much more. Save your money.

Made in china.

I bought 6 of these magnets to hold the shade cloth onto my open van when the dogs are in the back. They are great for holding it even in the wind ... so good, I am back on amazon.com to find hooks for removing the magnets when it's time to pack up and move along. Perfect for dog shows, trials, tests, classes, etc.

Such a simple product helped me solve a vexing problem -- water escaping the shower curtain and ending up on the bathroom floor. This magnet holds the curtain closely to the tub so, despite elbow and knee movement, it stays right in place and keeps shower water where it belongs. Though firm in its placement it removes easily for cleaning and does not have any fussy, "decorative" elements to make it stand out. Performs as described; I recommend it highly.

I don't know what was expected by the folks who said these don't have holding power. Mine are very strong. I mounted motorcycle mirrors on these to stick in various positions to view equipment I work on. They are very hard to remove or reposition. Certainly in no danger of falling off. After reading reviews I almost got larger ones just to be safe. Glad I didn't.
